4 Door Civic Dx vs. Del sol (sohc)

This weekend me and a buddy went to the country to do a couple of runs. I have a 4 door 2001 dx with intake, aem pullies and axel back. He has a Del sol (cant remember what year) with an intake and full exhaust. He also has a vtec engine...anyways we lined it up, both of us with one passenger. First gear we were even, and as soon as i shifted into second he pulled about 2 cars on me. Then from 3rd intill we shut down we were just about even. We did it two times, and the second time i got a great launch and pulled 1 car on him, but once again as soon as I went into second it was game over for me. It kinda sucked that he came from behind, but i figured he would win anyways. Fun night though.

yep, definately that little VTEC, you said it was a SOHC Del Sol, you sure it wasn't a Si? The B16 Si del sol's are pretty dayum quick

skater: i dont think it is the si version...i know its a SOHC and he tells me its VTEC also. I guess that car is much lighter also, plus more power and VTEC...i was expecting to lose, but not from behind!
Any cheap mods besides NO2, that could give me an edge on him? Im planning on converting my exhaust to ex soon with aftermarket parts, but what else could I do?

oh alright then it is SI. I didn't know that. He told me his car stock has like 130 horses. Then I guess his small mods added a little bit more. My car has intake and pullies, and it is a dx sedan...the slowest one! I need more engine mods.

thats right, i got confused with VTEC and the Si model Del Sol, i always thought the Si was the B16, opps, sorry man.....

to beat him get work on your shifting and maybe new tires for better grip, ACT clutch, SA-FC, maybe some other stuff

Si VTEC are fast. But D block Del Sol isnt that fast, equivalent to an EX. Besides, I wouldnt use a Del Sol to drag, good for auto X. = ) If it wasnt D16Z, it would be D15.... that car is slow.
