how did you get it out?

I was clearing my headlights last night and ran into two problems. Everything is obviously very simple, but for some reason I am having trouble removing the chrome piece from inside the headlight assembly. Yes, I removed the two screws but I can't seem to get the piece out. I pulled on it but I am afraid to pull too hard and snap it in half. I'm convinced there has to be some sort of trick that someone has come up with. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

also, when I was cutting through the black glue/sealant and removing the the black housing, I got a little hasty and broke the marker and turn signal bulbs. Now the entire headlight is out. Does that mean that I broke the headlight bulb as well? Can I buy just some basic run of the mill bulbs from a local parts store or is that more of a specialty part that I would need to order?

Much appreciated

I used a pocket knife and just cut through the black silicone that is all around the edge, then pulled (still with a lot force) and it just came apart slowly. Try cutting through all the black sticky stuff on the edge, then try prying it apart.

P.S. I cut through the black silicone twice to make it a little easier.

to get the chrome part out, first pull up the turn signal part of the headlight, and turn it a bit..then pull the other corner up. That made it a little easier for me.

Check to make sure there isn't any glue on the top of the insert. I've cleared two set and found glue keeping them together from the top seal. If you have a heat gun, this works best. And it makes it alot easier to put them back together. Heating up that glue after you have them together will melt some of the glue and you will be able to squeeze the two pieces together. Hope this all works out for you. Later

I started at the turn signal too but instead of pulling strait up, I sort of pulled it out at a angle and followed the contour of the headlight(if that makes sence) and the chrome piece just slid right out.
