Question found an extra part in my engine bay?? help!

hey all

so i was adjusting my headlights and just looking around, and i found this in my engine bay. it was kinda hanging off of the wire harness on my right headlight, but it didnt look like it fit anywhere.

i looked on the other side to see if theres one like it there, but the other wire harness is hidden behind the washer fluid reservoir.

soo...does anyone have any idea what this might be? pic is a bit blurry, but the stapler is there to judge the size of it. if anyone knows, clue me in...please

If you took your intake resonator off and put it an aftermarket intake...it came off the intake resonator...Its like a metal washer so when the screw bolts in it bolts throught that instead of plastic...(ithink) atleast thats where i think its from..ive seen those

nope, no aftermarket intake for me. altho it might have just been dropped there by honda when they did my maintenance on tuesday. id like to hope not since they should really know what theyre doing under the hood.

thanks for all the responces tho...i still have no idea what it is. i dont know why it would have anything to do w/ the exhaust system since i did nothing to the exhaust system under the hood and i found it nowhere near the header....weird.

keep the ideas coming tho...even if theyre not really cluing me in, theyre mildly amusing. hahaha

BTW...its not threaded on the inside or outside. so if anything, its a washer or something...but i just dont know where it came from.

anyway, take it to the dealer and ask them, but no offense, they'll probably think your insane for asking them where it came from. It looks like a washer so it could have come from who knows how many places.

It doesn't look like any of the washer I had when I took out my intake. They don't have that raised side if it is that. They are just flat washers. So don't believe it is what he said it is. I could be wrong but I kept all my parts and that looks like nothing from my stock intake.

It's a cap to your headlight fluid.

The washers on the airbox have a raised side. The raised side goes into the rubber grommets that hold the **** in place.

well i can tell you that it is a washer. i just looked at my stock air box and that is just an example of one. there are so many different sizes and shapes of washers that you might not believe it. i would say that your last service may be where it came from. meaning that the tech dropped it. what kind of service did you have done lately and that would be a good start place to see where it may have come from. hell it may have been there longer than you think. i know at the plant we drop crap all the time in the engine bays. it can suck some times because i have to go find it if the associate can't. anyways it is a washer, where it came from maybe harder to find out, good luck.

Maybe its not even from your car, I've found all sort of things that have somehow found there way under the hood- a bottle cap, sticks, about 9,000lbs of leaves when the fall rolls around, etc.

Also, Pbfoot, a lil off the topic, what dealer do you take your car to for service??

hmm...ill have to examine the intake a little closer then. it kinda bugs me out to think that something that should be there might not be. and it bugs me out even more to think that a honda tech dropped something in my my engine bay, or forgot to put something back in, when theyre supposed to be experts.

Fern - i take it to paramus honda. well, i take it for the major checkups, this was the 30K. oil changes ive been taking it to jiffy lube, but i might go back to honda since it seems to be cheaper and the oil they put in is whats supposed to go in, nothing slightly different.

oh...fly, thanks!!! i think thats EXACTLY what it is. i just changed my lightbulbs a few weeks ago too, i must have nudged the headlight fluid reservoir a bit and the washer fell off. LOL
