Question blown engine

I hit a boost spike of 18psi and my car is making a ticking noise that gets louder as the revs go up. I showed Honda and they said it was my valves so I am getting them readjusted today but after I showed Honda, I went to Autozone to ask this old guy working there and he said the same thing Mike from SF said... "Could be a blown bearing..." The guy from Autozone said it will only get worse and that I will eventually need a new motor...

Where's a good place to buy a new d17a2 ? cwick suggested that i put a new engine in my car, take my old one out and re-do the stock internals... what do you guys think? Would it be cheaper/better to get my blown bearing fixed (if that's what it really is) or buy a new motor for cheap, put it in, take the old one out and buff it?

Thanks.... (crossing fingers)

Actually, the guys at autozone for the most part in my opinion have been fairly accurate. I love autozone man, its so bad *** how those poeple will actually try and help you. I goto this autozone by my house occasionally to get parts, and they are always so bad *** there. Comin out in texas 101 F temps and helpin me test my fog lights.

Instead of getting another d17a2, go ahead and look on ebay for a complete engine swap from a 2002-2003 civic si or 2002-2003 rsx type s, i saw a rsx swap today for 3900 included engine and tranny with only 17000 miles, you honestly will spend the same amount if you bought either and you will get better power.

i dont think so, i see D17's selling for <1000 shipped on ebay.... so get a good deal on a D17 and swap it but dont run to much boost or you'll probably be in the same situation you are now.... good luck

Ok, got my car back from honda... valves are adjusted but the noise is still there. they told me it was my wrist pin to my piston... im going to look into eagle rods and aeris (sp?) pistons... Time to garage my car until I get enough money... SIGH...

yup its the wrist pins.i found out after i tried adjusting the valves and still the same noise so it had to be those.i bought a motor on ebay for $550 that has only 4,000 miles on it.when that comes in ill swap it and work on the junky one...oh while your changing out the internals dont forget to upgrade your headgasket they dont hold for long under boost.mine lasted only a month till i got overheating problems.
