Stock Cd Player problem...help?
Stock Cd Player problem...help?
Hey u guys...well my 7thgencivic is having few probs with the stock cd player that comes with the 2001 civic lx... the problem is when i play my cds that i burn off the net..it has a hard time reading them...but when i play some other cds ( the ones i buy from a music store) everything is ok... so..
1. Is this because of a Dirty Cd player unit? and maybe i should get one of those incar cd cleaners to fix the problem?
2. Or is the stock cdplayer just crap...and can't read cd-rs and maybe i should upgrade to one that can?
U see...burned cds work well in my sisters CRV's stock incar cdplayer ...just wondering why it doesn't work in mine
any suggestions?

by the way one question to you guys out there, how do you get to see the track and time on the song when cd playes, meaning I want to turn off the clock display when cd is playing
I have no problems at all playing any burned CDs.
It could be a combination of the burner, the software you use to burn, or the stock unit itself. Some burned CD's just can't be played on certain units.
Try playing CDs that were made on another burner. If it still doesn't play them, then it's probably the stock unit that's to blame.

The stock unit is the one disc only one found on the 2001 civic sedans..and i use the roxio easy cd creator..so iono..i might buy the disc cleaner just in case...but i just bought a trance cd today and popped that in and it works fine...but then switched to a burned cd..and took like forever to load the first track..

i'd say try burn it with a new program, i use nero when i had the stock cd player and it works great, and if u want to show the cd text make sure u fill out the cd info when they ask for it.

i have stock headunit that came with my EX ... 99% of my cds i play on it are burned... they all seem to work fine, i use nero to burn my cd's.. it also might be the quality of the cd's and the speed you burn at... i burn at 48x, and use whatever cheap cd's i can find at best buy
so it might be your CD Player...

so it might be your CD Player...

CD-R's are harder to read. Usually either the lens is getting dusty or the laser is getting weak. Then it will have trouble with CD-R's, but still read normal CD's for some time before it dies. Try cleaning the lens first. THEN try other things. Your CD-R's are probably fine since other player will play them. I burn mine at 40X and my deck reads em just fine.
