~Need help building a custom box~

After going to a car show this weekend, I've realized that I want to do a custom setup in my trunk.

I want to do one of those fiberglass enclosures with the 2 subs angled up at each side with the amp in the middle, kinda like this...

X ---- X

lol, that was horrible.

Anyway, I need to know the cubic feet bs and all that, because I have no clue about any of that stuff. I still want these babies to sound good too.

Um, my subs are 12 inch JL w0's if that info is needed.

Please give me some insight, I have no freakin clue where to start

you wont be able to measure the true cubes in a glass enclosure because of expansion and what not

oh, but you will be albe to... use water or sand and a gallon jug of water....

but as i told you earlier gotti, since you have absolutely no clue about anything install related, you making a custom trunk right now is like you asking me to teach you to drive formula one without even knowing how to turn on a car

glassing is a tough art to learn, i learned that not too long ago, and im still not great at it yet, but im slowly coming around i believe... i still haven't gotten some of the stuff rabbit and ludlam have been talking about in some of their threads about glassing, but im working on figuring it out...a word of advice though, do not expect your first few attempts to come out like what you are expecting them to look like.. i learned this the hard way too...

im tryin to tell ya gotti, start with the basics. read the websites in teh thread stickied at the top of this page. then go out and build some prefab like boxes for your subs. just plain square boxes. learn to carpet, then get into vinyling your boxes, then make a wood box with a fiberglass front, then get more and more, dont just jump in or youll regret it. after much practice, prefab boxes will be a joke. i can spit out rectangular boxes for any sub in a matter of 2 hours or so.

ludlam is correct in that, i tried to be all gung-ho and jump in and start building stuff, well, the thing i built (i still haven't figured out what it resembles yet) is still in the garage...

GreenNVicious can only hope to improve
just go for a ported box, look up your w0 specs on jlaudio.com, they tell you the measurements and the specs you need to build your box, whether it be another sealed or a ported box

why?
dont just tell people to do things. you have to tell them why, otherwise you make no sense

What's the difference between a sealed and ported box? Sound different?
