would dealership repaint?
after i got home after getting the civic from a dealship i noticed the passenger side door was slightly a darker shade of silver in one area, almost looked like a light brown in there. i called the dealer and told them that and they said they didnt know. i was wondering, if i go to the dealer and start bitching about it, do u think they will repaint the door to match?

If you called them the night you got the car, and notified them of the problem, I could not imagine they could refuse it if they were a decent dealership. I don't know if going in there and necessarily bitching at them from the get go would help you though. One question though, did you buy the car off the lot, or did they have to make it for you...?
I have a comment to make on this one...
My car is a '98 and it's silver...I noticed paint problems less than a year later...the paint under the clear coat was cracking on various parts of the car...I took it to the dealership right away and they said take it to their local paint shop...I spoke to the owner of the paint shop and he told me it must have been the paint and he'd tell the dealership to make up a work order and they'd call me... I waited a couple of days and called the dealership about the w/o and all of the sudden the story changed and it was now my fault...I let something sit on the car and it baked into the paint...
...
... I take very good care of my car and wouldn't let anything sit on my car for long...they said they would only paint the tops (hood, trunk & roof)...I said no way, it's happening all over the car, not just the tops...they refused and I told them my next car won't be a HONDA...!!! Needless to say didn't get it fixed at all...

If we could buy directly from HONDA straight out of their factories, the world would be such a better place. Instead we have to go through middle people who care only about themselves. They get you to buy their car and afterwards if you come back to ask them a question, you are the bad guy bitching at them.
It's funny, the last time I was there for an oil change, a guy walks in saying he just got back from the dealership in another town, and the Honda guys at my dealership were like "Pfff! why'd you go to them? We're muuuch better." They're all jackasses. competing against their own teammates.

All I can say as far as advice regarding the paint issue...try it (going to the dealership) but you may not like the results...dealerships usually feel that you bought the car now it's ur problem...they are sooo willing to help when ur buyin' but afterwards...forget it...!!!
they're not teammates just because they sell the same cars. They want your business because they want your money, what do you want them to say "Keep going to that dealership when you need service, or another car, we don't want your business, we're just fine."?
I'm pretty sure if it's a new car and if it got damaged during shipment, the dealership would try to repair it themselves. I don't think the delearship can just send the car back to the factory and ask for a replacement.
Of course they will act like you're speaking a different language if you tell them it was there before you bought the car. You should have inspected more carefully during the sale (or an overnight roadtest).
My dealership doesn't even have a paint shop, neither do the surrounding dealerships. Check around for other delearships around your area and ask them about that sort of situtation.

My dealership doesn't have one either but they have a local one they deal with...
Find out who the dealership recommends and go to them and ask them to give you a possible cause IN WRITING (if they will) and then take that to the dealer!
My paint problems didn't happen right away so...I got screwed...however, most people I know that paint cars say that silver is the hardest color to deal with...I'll know for next time...

I got my car with a dent and paint chips on the front and rear bumper. I called the dealership and they repaired it all free of charge. I also got my car missing the leather interior they forgot to get it installed. Id just call them up if the entire door is a different shade they have to fix it theres no way you could do that. If you call them 2 weeks after you bought it and said it came with a dent youd be outta luck but even a year later if 1 door is like that and the rest of the car isnt they should fix it or call Honda directly and bitch.
