This may sound dumb, but my brakes are squeeking.

So what exactly does that mean. It just started mabye a week or 2 ago, and it doesnt squeek all the time and its not that loud. Do i just need to change the pads? or do the rotors need to be changed too.. I'm not sure, i don't want to pay more money than i have to. How much is this gonna cost me (i think my friend will do it for almost free) so hopefully labor isn't a big issue.

yes, change the pads. The squealing is due to a chirp clip ... which will get worse (ie. squealing all the time, louder) if you don't change them
