Maybe this is kind of a dumb question, but if I had exhause and a CAI on my 5spd EX, how much would I win by (in car lengths) in a quarter mile race against a stock EX 5spd assuming that both drivers are equally as skilled? LOL this sounds like a purpose question for an experiment...
I actually pulled on my friend a car (he has a bone stock 2k1 LX sedan auto and i had (at the time) a 2k2 EX coupe Auto with just injen CAI, before the cai, i ALWAYS losed by a c ar length. After the CAI, i pulled on him by a hood. So in total, a car and a hood gain (and we raced countless times with the same results.

The dyno chart that came with my K&N showed a small loss in low end with about a 4 HP gain in the high end.
Any CAI/SRI camparison dyno chart will show similar results.

You would be lucky to shave off even .1 seconds in the 1/4 mile. Let's say you could perfectly run the two cars together, the CAI EX would win by probably half a car at most over the stock EX.

No, CAI is best for mid/top end. SRI is ok for a little gain but is mostly for sound. If you are wanting performance, get the CAI. the SRI will help very little and even in some cases, HURT performance.
Does it really matter? The truth is you will pull on him a little because of the CAI and less restrictive exhaust, but just like AltimaGuy03 said, not by a lot. (enough to win by a nose)
omg... okay look. CAI takes away a little from the low end, and spreads a little to each part of the power band thus you have an overall increase in horsepower throughout the powerband. CAI doesnt make you slow... what an absurd proposition.

With CAI you already lose on low end power.

I personally do not have a CAI i have a modified stock air box with a k&n filter, resonatorless catback exhaust bosch plugs and a centerforce clutch. I left a 98-00 ex with atleast I/H/E if not more. by the time i hit 60 i was at least a car length ahead if not more.
