My Brother's RX8
My brother got sick of his 95' prelude yesterday, so he traded it in on a 2003 Mazda RX8. When he brought it home, he took me for a test drive. I said "This feels pretty quick." And Matt said, "it'll beat your civic."
After that, we went home an picked up my car. I had to take a few people home, but the first person lives right down the street from my brother. So at the first red light, we went. Matt and his RX8 vs. Me and my civic.
Through first that car took me by about 1 1/2 cars. then in 2nd i passed him and got about 1/2 car ahead. Matt then passes me again when i went into 3rd, then at the top of 3rd i passed him again, and he never caught up after that.
I have to say, i was impressed by how quick my civic is, and how b*tchin that RX8 is. I will have to take my car to the track to see just how quick it is up here. Maybe ill do that on wed. or friday.
Matts car only had 15 miles on it when we raced. So now he wants to get better at driving it and then go again. Whenever he is ready, ill accept.

thats crazy....only 15 miles, better give it some time to break in that engine
i just got my type s, and i only have 55 miles on it and haven't reved it past 3k rpms yet....so tempting

u never race it early...i have always been taught give it like 3-4 hundred miles then start driving it like you really would....And the RX8's are freaking sweet...good choice...and your civic must be pretty fast to hang

I beleive breaking it in, consists of setting the seals. THe best way to do that is to basically beat on the car. Just a couple of minutes of high revving/high speed jaunts will set the seals. I heard this from a sport bike mechanic. Can't be too different for cars.

actually he should now take his car to get an oil change immediately. He most likely has alot of metal shavings that he just fused to his cylanders. your suppose to change your oil at 1500 if you buy a new car, bcuase breaking in the engine is exactly that. when he gets or does an oil change look for metal.
i'll race him and you. it'd be fun!!!!!!

I don't know much about engines other than bolt ons and air flow. so maybe i ment valves, pistons, whatever.
to far away to even try to race. but yeah it would be fun.
