Finally a Supercharger for the 7th gen civic...well kind of...
Hey,
Thought that i would share some news i got from HASport, and Jackson Racing with you guys.
Now before you get your hopes up, there is a Supercharger for the 7thgen civic, but its only for those that have the RSX-S motor...sorry everyone else.
According to Brian Gillespie at HASport, in a 7th gen civic coupe or sedan, the Jackson Racing Supercharger for a new Civic Si will bolt up without problem. Clearance is not an issue, you will have more than enough room to fit the blower in the engine bay. Expect to see the same numbers on that blower that you see on the the blower for the TypeS, cause they are the same blower essentially. One is just mounted differently. That means, in the Race Version of the supercharger, you will see numbers like 254whp. Switch from a JR race header to a Comptech, and you will probably see more. They are also working on a kit that will raise the boost a little more...probably to around 8psi...meaning around 290whp.
Anways...juts thougtht that i would share. Sorry if i got someones hopes up that doesnt have the swap done. I was thinkin about it while i was typing this out, that we need a Swap Forum.

IMO, that's no where near a blower for the 7th gen. It's a blower for a K20 engine that just *happens* to fit in any 7th gen with that engine.

well the RSX-S on stock tires (which really blow), and the Race Version of the Supercharger ran a 13.7. Jackson Racing thinks with better tires (Drag Radials) would easily hit low 13's.
When they were testing with the stock tires, Oscar was burning through 2nd gear, and partly into 3rd. To give you an idea...he ran a 2.8 60' time on that 1/4mile run. Yea, sad, but with better tires that should go way down.

of course it didnt impress you, you have the Si, i agree the numbers are weak for that car with this application. But 260whp isnt too bad just for 5psi. Get a better race header than the JR one that they tested with, and get the boost upgrade and you are seeing some serious numbers.
It just depends on what you like, whether that is a supercharger, or a turbo, or even NA. Different people feel differently about it.

A small turbo like the T25BB (the one in the TB kit) will spool up very quickly. If this was used with an eqaul length turbo maifold (almost like the one in the SF kit) it will spool faster. Also the backpressure of the exhaust after the turbo is a factor in turbo spool up. A low backpressure creates a greater pressure differential, thereby spooling the turbo quicker. SO.... For our cars (D17) an optimal low boost setup with reduced spool-up would be the combination of an equal lenth tubular header, a small ball bearing turbo, and free-flowing exhaust. With a well thought out setup spool up should be negligable.
EDIT- Another thing to consider is intercooler size. A larger intercooler will cool the intake charge better. However, it's larger volume is harder to fill. That is a factor towards spool-up time. So in respect to turbo and intercooler size - bigger is not always better.

Having driven both...
Having driven both a turbo K20 and a Supercharged K24 I would prefer the Supercharged car for fun, streetablilty and the ease of the installation. Now if brute force is what you are after, it is turbo all the way.
Remember the K24 supercharged car is stil in it's early stages of tune. I suspect we will have the car in the 325+ hp at the wheels by August. The turbo car should be in the neighborhood of 500 hp by September.

I say go with the Supercharger, I think if you go with the swap and supercharger you will have a better chance to pass emitions asweel, If you just go with the Turbo on our car it will not pass at all.
