So I went to the 1/8 mile

I took my car to the local drag strip which is nearly an hour away from my house right in the middle of redneck city. I raced my friends mitsubishi galant and beat him. It was my first time ever and I ran a 11.5 and my reaction time was .5. I think his reaction time was .2. So I guess that was alright for my first time ever doing it. The second time I tried to race a 4 door LX, but the stupid rednecks got the lines all messed up and they put me up against a fully built 67 mustang with the big drag slicks and everything. As soon as the light turned green it seemed like he was already on the other end of the track.....I didn't even go pick up that slip.

IMO it was not worth driving nearly an hour and paying 10 bucks to run my car twice. It was something different, but I have never heard "pieceasheeiiit honda" and "gottt damnn import" So many times in my life. Here in the south we only have 1/8 strips unless its in a really big city somewhere. I might try another one on the other side of town and see if i can improve a bit. But from the experience I had I would have rather spent that 10 bucks on some beer and hung out with my bros.

What track did you go to? I usually go to Dorchester dragway or Cooper River Dragway.

It doesn't matter who you run against. You only run against yourself. Really you should be trying to better your own time. It doesn't matter who you run against. They have no infuence on your ET.

My times started out at 11.5......after a few more trips to the track i've now got it down to 11.1.

I went to Ware Shoals dragway. I'm gonna try the Greer dragway one weekend. I just remember seeing on the sign on my second run that my reaction time was a .2 something. Due to the excessive amount of rednecks at this particular strip I had no fun at all. hehe I was talking to some ricer and he told me he had "euro tails". I said no no walk around the back of my car....those are the only real euro tails.

One thing you will learn after you go to more drag strips.....the ALL have rednecks. It's a redneck sport mostly.

Yea, I almost forgot that you and I both have UK Tails....lol.

my best time on the 1/8 mile is a 10.6 with just an intake. And if your friend had a .2 for his reaction time he would have gotten a red light and lost the race right there.

Tracks have different ways of displaying their reaction times. Sometimes they start at .5 and sometimes it prints the time from "0".

It depends on the track's computer read out.

This track did it from 0. So my first run it took me a half a second to react.

do u have an auto or 5 speed? if you have a 5 speed I was running with 14 inch rims, so that might also be why I was a little faster, because damn I only have an intake and ran almost a full second faster.

I have an auto. I was running with 17's (205/40/17) and I'm sure my body kit didn't help either. I'm quite sure I can get a quicker time, but I'm not gonna pay 10 dollars every friday to waste gas in my car and get hassled for an hour and a half by a bunch of mullet wearin @ssholes

I've run anywhere between 10.7 and 10.9 on the 1/8 with the stock Firestones. All I have is intake and exhaust.

dude you are in texas...im pretty sure elevation has somewhat to do with the fact that he is slower than you...not to mention alot of factors influence your et...driving skill, weather, elevation...ect....ide say if you ran right next to him your times would be within a few tenths....i race at 1500ft above sea-level...its not uncommon to see low to mid 11's in a moderately moddified civic if the weather is hot and humid...however i did run a 10.6@66mph in my echo at 1500ft...using nhra conversions in similar weather at sea-level that would have been a 10.4@67mph

Dude he is in South Carolina, I am near Dallas which is 12 hours from the coast. I am sure he is closer to sea level than I am.

i missed the part where he said he had an auto...but i do believe you would have a hard time breaking into the 10's at my elevation unless had good weather and they would actually prep the track....a guy i know has a 7th gen that ive been trying to get him to get on this website..anyways he's running his civic thursday i believe he has exhaust and intake and 17's will get his slips and post for you guys.
