Window Tint Violation!?!(pic)

Hello everyone, On friday night I was pulled over after leaving work, and issued a ticket for a window tint violation. The tint is only 35% but i guess the young cop who pulled me over must have been very bored that night. It is a "Fix it" ticket, and if i want to just pay the fine it will be $100.00, i guess my question is, Should i just get rid of the tint on the front passenger and driver side windows?(which will throw the look of the car off), should i pay the fine of $100.00 dollars that i dont have and risk getting another $100.00 ticket later on down the line, or should i switch up the whole look and De-Tint my car completely (take in mind some of the tint is beginning to bubble in the rear) I would appreciate any comments? thanks
This is what she looks like at the moment, I have 20 days to decide what to do.....

That's 35%.... damn
It's a tough call - what is the law in your area. I know in Ont. Canada, it's officer discreation, so effectivly I can ticket you for any % tint.
Not sure about Detriot.

What does it cost you to have it tinted in your area... I know some shops up here will do it for $160, others had a sale for $125!! - hence, it might be better to make a deal with the shop, telling that you'll give them your buss. to have it tinted again, far lighter (but uniform around), but they take the stuff on there now, off, for cheap! Show the officer, have the fine waived, and you pay a small amount to have a lighter tint on your car...

Off topic, but can you post any other pictures of your tint...
The fronts are 35%, what are the sides and rear?

I'm trying to decide if I want 35 or 20% on my car.
Mine will be all the same though... no front/rear spliting.

how bad do you want the tint?

you can pay the fine of $100 while keeping the tint or pay a simple small court fee, remove the tint, then re tint your windows at the shops price (which will nearly be the amount of the tint fine in the first place).

i would call your local police department and ask what is the legal tint law. with the picture provided, it honestly looks 20% or darker.

That sucks but it reminds me of what happened to my buddy.

He was stuck in traffic with a cop car behind him and after awhile it pulled him over. He drives a 93 silver deville sedan with 20%. Both cops get out of the car and walk on each side of the car. When they look in and see him the one cop immediately turns around and gets back in the crusier. The other cop is baffled and asks him if the tint is legal then he needs to get the little emblems on the tint to prove it is legal. He says that he just doesnt know if his tint is ilegal or not, but it could be. He then says that he should drive to the state police barracks to get this done as soon as possible. He then says to have a nice day and gets back in his crusier. No ticket, did not even take his name down. Now what happened here? I will give you a hind he was on I95 heading towards B-more from college park, and remember what he was driving.

haha gearbox is right. when you drive around during the day just leave your windows half up and pull back the sunroof cover if you have one. having light inside the car makes the tint look a lot lighter

what happens when the officer ask for your registration and compares it with the car. Thats what a highway patrol did to me. He asked for my registration and look at my vin # and all that other dumb stuff. So you probably got lucky on that risky move you made

I have 35% all around. Never been bothered in 4 years. As you know, I even have the V-cool tint on the windshield. Yet you can see through the car no problem. I think that's why they haven't bothered me. Also, don't give them a reason by driving like a fool.

Compared to all the blacked out SUV's around here, my tint is NOTHING.
Depends on WHERE in California, though.

That is darker than 35%. But the interior of a car makes it darker as well. If you have a black or dark grey interior, your tint will be darker. My buddy had 25% on his, but he got pulled over and it registered at 11.4%. The legal in our area is 35%.

IMO… I would fix it. After the cost of a couple of those tickets you could have gotten it re-tinted. Anyway you need to re-tint it if its bubbling because that will look too tacky.

I don't get it. Before getting the tint in the first place would have been a better time to consider whether or not you want to chance the ticket. You must have known it was illegal. Either that or you didn't do your research before modifying your car.

actually by ca law if its bubbling you either need to take it off or get it fixed because its deemed a hazard if its bubbling or some stuff, but i havent heard of anyone actually getting pulled over for it

Dont bother getting it fixed, roll down the driver side and take a pic from the passenger side to make it look lighter, and do the same when taking a pic of the driver side. Take it to court and tell them you got it fixed. This way it will cost you nothing and you can keep your tint.
