packing in a handicap parking

I park in the handicap packing spot so my friend can go into t-mobile to get something signed. As i waited, i see a cop pass me, i turn the car on and i am about to back up, that pop was already turned around and behind me blocking me. He come out and says, what are you doing parked in handicap parking, i told him " i am waiting for my friend" he says, "dont lie to me" " i am not lying, honestly" he gave me some speech about how healthy i am, blah blah, its was ok, i didnt get a ticket, but why would i. i wasnt parked i was just waiting... i really hate po po's

that is one of the stupidest excuses/reasons I've ever heard. It's just like the people that can't even park in a parking spot, they have to pull either into the firelane in front of the building or block the driving lanes just to sit and wait. get some brains, man. just park in a correct spot and stop being so damn lazy, and acting like it wasn't your fault for being an ***.

you werent parked you were just waiting???????????????

that is a dumb remark. of course you were parked, you were parked and waiting. if you pulled up in the space, and sat there, you are parked. doesnt matter if the car is off or not, or you are in it or not. what if you were sitting there for 5 minutes and an old lady needed that space?????

either way, be glad you didnt get a ticket. if you dont have a handicap placard, then you would get a ticket. I was in the same situation, parked for a second, let my mom out and a cop saw me, gave me a lecture and a warning, then when I left, he followed me, pulled me over and gave me a ticket. and its not cheap either. dont hate a cop for not giving you a ticket for something you should have recieved one for. it would be different if he gave you a warning, then changed his mind later as in my case.

You deserved to get a ticket... Hell I wish that they would tow people's cars that pull that ****... My grandfather is handicap and finding a parking is hard enough with out people like you who feel that a parking up front is a great convenience. Doesn't matter what your reason was for parking there, you know that you are not handicap, you know that you should not park there, you know that you are wrong... If you were really concerned you could have driven around the parking lot while your friend was getting whatever signed...

people like you are horrible, you should have gotten a ticket. my gfs uncle is in a wheelchare and its always one thing or another, people parking in the handicap spaces without tags or parking right next to him in the yellow sidways lines

2 things. why is parking in thows yellow lines bad? due to he cant get his lift out to get out of his car. and the other thing is i hate when people say just go park where every one else does, well dumbsh$t (to people that say that) he cant get out if somone parks next to him.

heres a good example of people being a holes. some guy parked in the yellow line thing a few months ago. he wated but he had to pick up his young kids at there school. so after like 15 minits he called the cop the a hole cop would not do any thing saying it was a parking lot and they could do what they wanted to finaly after 40 minits the guy came out and then took his sweet *** time getting into his car and taking off. i dont even thing the cop got diciplined for not doing any thing about it.

(spelling is bad due to no spell chex on this comp)

i agree with you (original poster)

the car was on, and you were sitting in the driver seat waiting. im sure, as i do, that you were lookin in the rear view to make sure nobody pulled up behind with a handicap placard. hell, you saw the cop so obviously you were on the look out. had someone needed the space you could have backed out and all would have been fine.

im sure the cop had NOTHING better to do than bug you for parking 8 feet to the left or right of the "legal" parking spot great way to waste my tax dollars.

and plus...is blocking you in the spot that he wants you out of in the first place going to solve anything?

So if any car at all stopped even remotely near you, are you saying you pulled out and back in again? I bet not. So some guy comes along, sees you're in the spot he needs, stops his car, gets his wheelchair out, rolls up to you and asks you to move. Then gets back in his car, puts away his wheelchair, pulls his car into the spot and gets out again? These people are just going to park in a regular spot to avoid confrontation and then complain to the city who tells the cops to give people like you a ticket. Instead of all that, isn't it easier for you to park your lazy *** in a parking space? Whenever I do that, I drop my friends at the door and tell them I'll be waiting in a parking space somewhere. When they come out, I honk and they walk over.

cliffnotes: you're dumb

I really hope that this was infused with sarcasm. If not it was by far one of the stupidest posts I have ever read. He could have parked in any other spot, but because he was a lazy waste of oxygen he has to park in a handicap spot. It doesn't matter if he was in the car or not, he is not supposed to be in that spot. We have a handicap tag in our cars because sometimes we need to drive my grandfather around, but if he is not with us we use our God given strength and health and walk.

Point of it all... He shouldn't have parked there, and this action should not be condoned.

This is one of the stupidest things I ever heard. So how would he know if someone else came and needed it, was he looking at everyones license plate or handicap tag hangin from mirror? If there was a "legal" space 8 feet to left or right why not just park there? Laws are laws, enforcing them is the police officers job, whether u agree with them or not. This officer wasnt wasting your tax dollars. Also basically he conducted a traffic stop on him so that is why he pulled up behind him, why would he wait for him to move, he is already stopped, u never know these days with people, he could have been a wanted felon or somthing and if that officer would have left him pull out this could have ended in a pursiut or somthing worse. Hopefully it solved a lot, maybe next time these lazy fu**s can walk a little bit.

what if he was a felon? lol THATS one of the dumbest things ive ever heard.

im a cop, im going to pull over that gangster looking guy who is sitting in a parking stall cuz he COULD be a wanted felon!

really, i don't give a crap, its not that big of a deal. i think you guys are being a little harsh, he parked in a fvckin handicap spot while he was in the car with it running waiting for his friend to run a 2 second errand. big deal! i think the whole point of this thread is that the cop had, something, ANYTHING, better to do, but wasted his time on harrasing an illegal parker!

they have meter maids for that who look for cars parked illegally.

HEY GUYS, I JUST CAME BACK FROM TAKING MY FRIEND TO THE MALL SO HE COULD DROP OFF A PAYMENT AND YA KNOW WHAT!? I PULLED OVER AND THE CURB WHERE I WAITED FOR HIM WAS RED! HOLY **** THAT WAS A MAJOR CRIME! I WISH A COP COULD HAVE SEEN ME, GONE OUT OF HIS WAY TO BLOCK ME IN, TALK TO ME, THEN LET ME GO. I BET THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN AN AWESOME STORY FOR HIM TO GO HOME AND TELL HIS WIFE ABOUT AND WOULD REALLY MAKE HIM FEEL GOOD ABOUT. HE COULD HAVE BEEN A TRUE HERO. GEEZ, I WISH HE COULD HAVE SERVED AND PROTECED ME FOR PARKING IN A FIRE LANE!

Your not getting it. I work with cops everyday. Criminals dont get caught (most of time) by good police work. They get caught a lot of times for doing dumb ****. Something just like this. The cops look for little things like this so they can get something bigger, getting out and talking to him he could have found out that the driver was DUI, or had some kind of drug paraphanilia laying in the car, etc, etc, so many things the cop could have found, you never know. As I said before THE LAW is THE LAW. You dont like it tough. How do u know the cop had other things to do. Maybe it was a slow day. Ever think of that, they are not busy all the time. I dont agree with everything cops do and some are crooked and harass people for no reason Ill give yall that. Some even do it to me once in a while. By the way meter maids do exactly what the title says, check parking meters, not looking for illegally parked cars in shopping center parking lots where there are usually not parking meters. Know a little more about what ur posting about before u do it again.

im unsubscribing now. lol.

but before i do....

just so you know, i live in a small town and we don't have metered parking ANYWHERE. we have timed parking spaces like 30 minute parking or something like that and we have colored curbs. so...we don't have ANY metered parking, but yet we still have meter maids. hrmm thats wierd isn't it? oh THATS RIGHT, i do know what im talking about! our meter maids drive around in parking lots and down main street looking for ILLEGAL PARKERS!

not all citys have people that there only purpous is to look for illegaly parked cars, your trying to universalize something that is not true your argument is flawed, so frankly any thing you say the rest of this topic is wasted space.

All I can say is take care of someone that is wheelchair bound and you'll understand. Until then I can see why you would feel like it is no big deal.

i do! i take care of my grandpa all the time and he's in a wheelchair. and as soon as he gets out of the car, he is in the wheel chair. where i park is no concern of his though, because if i park a mile away or a foot away from the door, he's still gettin wheeled there. not like he has to walk any further. i take care of him at least a few times a week.

and can you guys honestly tell me that everybody who has a handicapped placard is REALLY handicapped? you can get those handicap placards or plates from tellin your doc you have shin splints (sp?) and then you can park in the handicap parking spot of the freaking GYM and go work out.

edit: ok, it really is no big deal. now if the poster had come on and wrote about how he parked in the spot, left his car and then came back to see the cop writing a ticket or being towed than i would have agreed with you guys. its fvcked up to take those spots if you don't need them.....BUT HE WAS JUST WAITING WITH THE CAR RUNNING!

its like when i went to D.C. and i saw i sign on the side walk (not private property) that said "no standing" lol. ok, if someone or something needs to get by i'll surely give them the right of way and move outta the way..but other than that.... im not hurting anyone by standing there am I

I understand what you are saying and while it does sound like a double standard, there is a difference between standing somewhere and parking somewhere. I'm pretty sure that there wasn't just one parking spot that so happened to be handicap parking. I'd be willing to bet money that there are more parking spots in a parking lot. I'm just upset because instead of taking the initiative(sp) to be a bigger person and park elsewhere he felt that he should instead park at any close spot regardless of what it was. Let me ask you this. You seem to get upset at the fact people abuse handicap stickers, plackards whatever, for all intensive purposes they have the right to park there, now whether they abuse it or not is a different matter, if you had said plackard and you didn't have your grandfather with you would you still park there?

ok, my parents used to have the handicap plates on one of their car and i used to HATE driving it. it would be my LAST resort. im not handicap so i don't need the plate. I finally convinced them that they don't need to announce to the world that they had some sort of handicap and that a placard would do the same thing without having to be sporting the wheel chair logo full time.

honestly, now that my parents have a placard, i drive their cars sometimes and i NEVER use the placard. id feel like an *** to park in the handicap spot, take the time to open the glove box and then to hang the placard on the mirror. then i'd hop outta the car all healthy like....i would feel like people were watching me and that i am being an ***.

im not an ******* or a bad guy...im just not a "laughty legal" type of person and i think that the cop had WAY better things to do..but instead hassled this guy.

like i said...this is NOT an issue of abusing the plates or of parking in the handicap spot...he was just waiting there for a SECOND!

I personally am not looking at this from a legal standpoint either. I am seeing this strictly as an issue of decency. It is morally wrong for him to park there and while I do agree that the cop could have taken the extra time to do absolutely anything else. It is once again a question of ethics and standards. To me it doesn't matter if it was a second or an hour, he should park there. That is the issue I'm trying to express.

i see what you're saying and +rep for you for being mature about it! lol..

anyways, i guess we'll never agree.

real quickly, im the type of person that sincerely cares about how the things i do or say make others feel. seriously, in anything, i tend to put others before myself. so with that, since i don't think of it as a big issue (waitin in the the handicap spot) i don't think its really hurting anyone. not saying that i am right, its just how i see it. im not just being an a-hole thinking "so what, i wanna park here i will" i just really, honestly, sincerely, do not see it wrong to wait in the handicap spot (or fire lane etc.) for a minute while the car is running. (and ESPECIALLY see it wrong for a cop to hassle you for it, but we're not arguing that point haha)

anyway, its not even our debate, i was just defending the original poster so heres a

edit: sorry, i gotta spread the rep around before i give it to you lol

see you DONT GET IT not every one in a chair has to have somone wheel them around or have somone drive them. its called you can put hand peddles so that people in chairs can drive them selfs, he drives him self by him self and needs thows spots so he has room to get out due to the lift needs about 3-4 feet on one side. thats what you dont get

and once again you universalized that o not every one is bad enuff to have handicaped parking, what about the people that are and you rob them of there spaces?

your just trying to make excuses.

im not robbing anybody of anything, bud.

i don't think its wrong to wait in a spot that maybe, might, perchance, need to be used by someone else. if i see someone drive up and look all confused as to why im there - i'll back out, give them a smile and a wave and be on with my day. then they can pull in and think "wow, what a nice guy." in the mean time, i'll wait there all i want. my gosh, get over it, its not a big deal mr. high and mighty.

oh and you're "universalizing" the fact that everybody who has the handicap plates is in a wheelchair and drives by themselves. it goes both ways.

no im not, you just read into what people wright what you want. i said there is a chance that somone that drives them self would need that space.

and your dreaming if you think they would think to them selfs what a nice guy.

most people expect others to be asses. i know i do. i walk down the street and give a random stranger a smile and they look at me like im crazy. nobody has any decency these days. so though i was waiting in their spot, moving for them would surprise them and thus they'd be thankful they ran into a nice guy like me rather than some other jackass that would just ignore them.

its happened. if you're in the wrong spot, or blocking a drive way or something...people automatically get really pissed! they'll throw their hands in the air and yell at you to "get the fvck" outta the way. know what i do? i get outta their way, roll my windown down and give them a smile or mouth out "im sorry" and wave to them. they'll change their attitude right away, nod at your or somethin, wave back and be on with their day. most people aren't like me though, and they'll gladly get pissed at the person behind them simply because the person behind them is mad at them.

my whole point...i'll say again since you don't understand...is that its not a big deal. im not saying they shouldn't get special spots, im not saying i deserve a special spot, im saying so fvcking what that you wait in the stall for 5 minutes with the car running while nobody else is using it.
