Rep Power: 0 Radar Detector Charge
Hey guys, so I got my radar detector taken away and charged with the offence of having a speed measuring warning device. The shitty part is it was so well hidden in the center console that no cop would have ever found it, but I had buddies in the car that didn’t want to get searched that day.
Anyway just wondering if anyone has any advice for me as im going to court to fight it. The ticket was issued by a municipal police force in Ontario.

Rep Power: 0 Ya, theres nothin you can do. Friend's auto-tec teacher almost had that happen. The cops radar picked up the detector, tried pullin the teacher over, teacher went into a gas station, put the detector in his pocket and got out of the car. Since the cop cant search him, the cop couldnt do anything but leave.

Buy this
A company calld K40electronics makes a radar detector that in my opinion is the best on the market. I has a up to two sensors one you install in teh front bumper and one in the rear. It is completly hidden this is the radar dector installed on Porsche, Ferrari, and other high end cars. www.k40electronics.com. I use it have have never ben cought.

radar jammers dont work. Only problem if you hide the detector is that you will have trouble detecting laser. Then again if the unit is illegal i guess you have too.
Here's a good site that sells radar detectors and there some hidden ones.]

its expensive but good place to do your research in what kind to buy.

Rep Power: 0 valentine one's are great, and also ridiculously expensive...
My friend got a standard cobra brand one off ebay and it seems to work great, however i am skeptical of its "360 degree" detection. Can most radars detect signals coming from the rear?

Rep Power: 296 The best one right now is the escort 8500 X50, then beltronics Pro X65 and the Valentine one third. All 3 have vg-2 immunity so it should be invisiable to radar detector detectors lol. Most of the upper radar detectors should have the 360 degree detection, but if you have metallic tint, its going to reduce the range of the detector. If you have the detector low and away from the windshield, it makes it really difficult for the detector to detect laser. I dont know if canadian cops use laser at all.
In my opinion, you might as well get the very best radar detector or not at all. You can get the beltronics one for $217 on ebay and $270 for the escort. I have the beltronics one and its saved my **** more then a few times already. If you get one i would suggest turning off your X band detection, so your detector doesn't go off everytime someone opens a garge door, unless you know cops around your area use X band.

Rep Power: 0 In case anyone was interested, here is a link to the section from the Ontario Highway Traffic Act..... http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/DBLaws/S...08_e.htm#BK122
Its in section #79 under Speed Measuring Warning Device.
BTW....they are legal in some provinces, like BC....but definitely not Ontario and Quebec.
