I recently got a ticket for 94 in a 65(I live in Illinois and got thet ticket here aswell), after I was given the ticket I called a friend's dad who is a lawyer for a local law firm. He told me he can get my offense lowered to a non-moving violation
via plea agreement and now that it's all taken care of it was "ammended" to 12-101 which is driving vehicle whcih is in unsafe condition or improperly equipped, and he said that could be a muffler thats noisey and I was like or a neon, and he said yea. so it could be viewed as a headlight out by my insurance company which won't raise my insurance.
I did have to pay almost $600- 250 to my lawyer and the rest was cort costs/fines. My aunt who is a lawer in Bloomington, IL (she's a public defender) was talking to me about it said she thinks something is corrupt at our local courthouse. She made me think this is something thats not supposed to happen... has anyone else had an experience where they get off with a non moving violation because of hiring a lawyer?
btw, the original charge was Driving 26-30mph above limit

she is right, usually whenever you get a speeding ticket, you wont get off with a non-moving violation. But I would be happy if I were you that you got a non-moving violation and it wont raise your insurance. However it happened, just thank god it did.
In Feb, I got a ticket for speeding (over 20 over the limit) and wreckless, which in OK is instant court date. Got a lawyer and got both tickets dismissed in trade for doing a few hours of community service and a day at defensive driving class.
Cost me $500 plus bucks but my record is clean. Worth it? To me it was, not for the ticket being removed but because it finally kicked my stupid *** into proper driving mode. I have since driven the limit, used my signal, and been mostly a good driver. I needed that more than anything because I was heading for a serious problem down the line. Hell I am suprized I didnt get it sooner, I used to lose my head and speed like a maniac all the time.
