I got a ticket for my tint
I got a couple of tickets this weekend. I got pulled over by two cop cars. The two cops each gave me a ticket. One cop gave me one for speeding and the other one gave me one for my tint. They were both *******s to me, even though I was very polite to them. They asked where I got the tint. They pulled me and a truck following me over, and let the guy in the truck go. Gave me a speeding ticket for 122 in a 90 (no reduction) and a ticket for illegal tint in the front. I asked if he had to measure it or anything and he said "If I can't see you it's illegal"
I got it tinted at Ziebart. When I got it done I asked for the darkest tint that was still legal. I have been pulled over at night before with no problems, my friend who is a cop has even driven it and said nothing. This cop was on the side of the road on an overcast day, with his hat and sunglasses on. I think its very unfair because I could tell by thier attitudes that they were just "sticking it to me" This law seems very subjective and it is completely up to their discression.
Now to fight the tickets I have to go to North Bay (3+ hours away) and take a day off work. Any advice? Is it worth goint to POINTTS or XCOPPER or such?

When you say "this law seems very subjective and it is completely up to their discression", you are absolutely right.
Section 73 (3) of the HTA says "No person shall drive on a highway a motor vehicle on which the surface of the windshield or of any window to the direct left or right of the driver’s seat has been coated with any coloured spray or other coloured or reflective material that substantially obscures the interior of the motor vehicle when viewed from outside the motor vehicle".
If in the officers opinion the interior is substantially obscured, than a ticket is warranted.

So this guy with his big hat and sunglasses, looking at my car in the overcast day decides that the tint which I paid for in good faith that it was legal is really illegal. I have done no wrong. I went to Ziebart and asked for the darkest legal. They gave me this. I have never been given a problem, even at night. And this ***** (he really was a ***** to me) gives me a ticket, knowing that its too far away for me to go fight it.
Sounds to me like he knew he had a quick, easy $110.
I'm not normally one to put down the cops, but I do know when I'm being taken advantage of.

The website he gave you is a good one. Basically though it should be none in the front, enough to still see you on the front sides and pretty much as dark as you want (?) in the back.

Go to the place where u got it tinted, and ask them for the a little pieces of the TINT like...35% 20% 5% or whatever and take those to the court or something and fight it over if ur tint percentage is legal, i've done this before. i guess u can't do nething about speeding

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but how ****ing ridiculous is this!? They say that we cannot have a tint on the front windows, left or right that may obscure our view... well, why the **** do undercover police cars have crazy tints?!!!! Can you say bullshiat!
