Rep Power: 329 Cold Start, Cold sut Off
How bad is it to drive as soon as your car is put on while it is cold. is it ok if you dont rev it ? or should one let it warm up first
what about shutting your car off with a cold engine, is that bad for it. Why ?

Rep Power: 539 you should start it and give it a couple of minutes before you leave but you certainly don't have to wait around for the temp to rise up first.

Rep Power: 0 starting you engin will do more damage then driving your car cold.i would say to let it warm up for a couple of min if you car had a steel block and alum head because two different metals expand at two different temp and might cause the head gaskit to fail.but most cars these days have alum heads and blocks so dont worry about it.got that abe.no worrys man

Rep Power: 0 Yes it is horrible to do that ... start and stop or start and rev
It has something with when the engine is not warmed up it doesn't completely burn off all the gasoline or something, or when it burns it off it doesn't burn it thoroughly enough, so you are left with deposits in your engine.
They say the worst thing for your car is to start it, drive it 2 minutes - before it reaches operating temp, and shutting it off. Are car that continually does this will age faster/wear more.
Stepping on the gas also doesn't help it either, as the engine is cold - the oil has less viscosity etc ... The car automatically increases its idle rate anyways with the choke so there is no need to step on the gas.

Like Shaneer said, start it - let it idle for 2 mins and then drive it ... it wont be at operating temp ... but it will be enough that the choke is off.

Rep Power: 0 depends on how cold it is. You should ALWAYS wait 30 seconds, even in the warm temps. This allows your oil which has drained into the bottom of your engine time to circulate and start lubricating everything. In the very cold temps it will take longer for the oil to circulate (thicker) and it won't be at its optimum temp. If it is -40 you should really give it time to get up to operating temps. Everything on your car is very cold and can be damaged easily when it is that cold
