Need help

OK listen to this bull#*@.In school I decided to lower my car for one of my assignment. At first there were just two of us but by the end there were like six ppl trying to help. While myself and the first guy that I asked to help were working on the back.....some of the other guys were working on the front. The backs were a peace of cake and we were done them in like 20 min. After those were done I went to see what was the hold up with the fronts,I saw one on the ground not even touched and saw the other in a vice and one of the ppl had a torch in there hands. So I grabed the torch from the guy and started freaking(this guy installed his own spring before). The guy was saying that the top bolt was seesed and he had to take the torch to it.OK but the guy didn't reallize that the more you heat it up the greater the chance of f*@King your bushings up.So know the bushing is f#Q$. By the time he finally got it off the nut and the top of the strut were fuc$ED.The bolt took the threads right off the strut.(by the way I myself did the other front and had it done in about 15 min with no probloms, all I did was heat up the thread lock.)anyways retapped the nut and strut and and reassembled and put back on the car....I also tacked the nut on just so I could sleep at night. Now my question to everybody is......Is it safe to leave it like this or should i replace my struts? And does anybody have oem struts lying around? But if I have to upgrade what struts should I go with............need some help..........i know that the one bushing is fu%#Ed and when i turn the wheel when im not moving you can here a clunck sound.Does anyone know what that meens.Hope someone can help

Ok Shane, the clunk sound is more than likely the spring shifting around in the mount. It does it on mine, all you have to do is re-seat it once in a while (by jacking up the car and spinning the spring back to where it's supposed to go) As far as the bushings go, I don't really know what you should do about that. Julian might be the guy to ask. However the work to fix them is a pain in the ***. You shouldn't have to change your struts, ONLY if your car bounces, or if it bangs REALLY loud when you go over a bump. If you've welded your nut on the strut. I wouldn't worry about it. Just check it occasionally to see if it's holding up.

yea...its not a big deal man. mine did it too for a bout a year. its really just the spring isnt set exactly right on the strut. it doesnt hurt anything by having it like that...it just makes the noise.

torches? WTF was the guy thinking?

Are you talking about the nut on the top of the strut? The one that you use an Allen key to hold while you take it off?

skiboard is on a distinguished road
clunck sound might come from the bearings on the strut. it might have gotten fked when it was heated up. you can get those cheap from honda.
