Alright as many of you know already I'm in the hunt for an exhaust for the car. This will be the main project for this season. I'm still fairly new to the whole modding scene, so any help will be appreciated.
I have a DX, and am looking for something with a nice low sound to it ... nothing that sounds high pitch or like a loud fart can. I most likely will want to do my headers eventually but believe that the funds will not be there this summer to do that.
I was leaning towards a full cat-back. this would most likely have to be special for the DX model. If I go this route, will there be any options to get headers in the future?
Would you all reccomend I just get an over the axel exhaust? what would be the benefits of each? What would be the drawbacks?
I know the option to get the headers, midpipe, downpipe, highflow cat is there for my car, but the money to do this would be a little much I think. (funny how thats the route I wanted to go at the beginning, and may still be the route i want to take) This all depends on what kind of feedback I get on this thread.
So again, those are my options, any and all help will be GREATLY appreciated, if any of you know how much I'd be looking at for each option that would be a great help as well.
Thanks again!!!

Yeah I dunno. I was hoping to do the whole cat-back, then eventually get the header, and necessary piping.
and I think Andrew payed something like 180 for his exhaust piping

full exhaust kit for $180...you can't beat it! Im looking to change my muffler it sounds nice with the silencer off but abit too loud for me when the car downshifts...and when the silencer is on it is abit too high pitched
Ok, to get anything more then sound out of your exhaust this is what u will need
a muffler,
a catback, this is a muffler with the pipes upto you cat
a High Flow cat - this is a catatylic converter that allowes more flow then stick.
a down pipe - this is the pipe that connects you cat to your headers.
headers.
So what u need to start out with is a cat-back. and maybe headers, then as money permits, get a down pipe and high flow cat.
honestly, the cheapest route, is get your own muffler, and let dans build u the cat back like andrews. so for 180+muffller, u r getting a full cat back, which is much much cheaper then any other catbacks on the market. that will give u more money for the headers, down pipe and cat.
if u just wanna buy a catback, there are alot out there, raging about 500-700 bucks. Greddy, Tanabi, apexi ... and list goes on

Just a question about Andrews piping ... I forget what you call the bending of the pipe where its smooth in the corners, compared to just bending a pipe and you get the ripples on the inside edge.
Julian knows what I am talking about ... do you know if your custom piping is the smooth edge or the rippled edge for that price ?

the piping your thinking of is mandrel bent pipes vs press bent, just keeps the same diameter though a curve in the piping so it doesnt reduce the size of your exhaust, if your into the do it your self mode you could order the bends and the straigh pipes off some sites for pretty cheap and weld up your own exhaust that'll work just as good if not better than any of those funky twin canister do hickies you honda guys have :P dynomax makes some mean mufflers, dunno how you guys in ontario do it but just dont use a cat, they're only there to protect the trees anyway.

BTW we played poker last Sat and I kicked butt.
I'm assuming that they aren't mandrel bent. You need a special equipment to do that. Unless the guy just buys pre-bent pieces and welds them together.
Thats usually why you pay more for a "name brand" exhaust, because they are a one piece mandrel bent pipe.
Not that it makes that much of a difference on our cars really, but i guess every little bit counts.

Man the difference is so little in conparision..
Example Custom made exaust by my buddy Dan 200$ installed
Apexi 600 to 700$ what would you by
Pros and cons
B the Apexi if you are planing to sell your car cause a cutom one is all welded and once you take it off you cant sell it cause it is all one peice but come one 200 vs 600 I know what I did
