Getting OEM Parts for cheap!

Some of you know my friend Nic (Silver Cav) - JCO has a deal with Surgenor's to get parts at cost, and discounts on service.

Who wants to draft up a letter with me to get a similar deal with a Honda garage here in Ottawa?

Anyone else not willing to do any work, maybe you have some ideas or requests to contribute to this thread.

^^ You really want OEM sideskirts and not cool aftermarket ones. Aftermarket is cheaper. I'd contact KVR if I were you to see what prices they can do.

A proposal needs to be drafted up for the local dealerships.

We need to explain that we have a large audience at 7thgencivic.com and that a lot of us are constantly trying things with the car, and then mess it up (as Landin says)... we need an attractive price from the dealership to encourage us to go there instead of the other garages.

Perhaps a round to see which Ottawa dealership prefer! Where do you go to get your Honda fixed?

I vote: HUNT CLUB HONDA.

dear honda

we would like to propose something to you. we have a car club which includes 7thgeneration civics, we are about 60 members and growing (see genseven.com)

we are honda enthusiasts which like to install and try diffrent parts on our cars. knowing that honda OEM parts and the best in term of quality, we would like to propose that u give us good prices in return for our buisness and marketing on your dealership. we take part in many car shows and events, and including your name in our events will be very benefichary for you.

blah blah blah

something along those line, someone with better english should right it up, and then get it signed by all genseven members. We send it to HUNT CLUB HONDA, OR THE DEALERSHIP THAT MIKE GOES TO, AND THE TO people send it to their dealership, and see what happens.

i would like some fog lights, side skirts, wheels, an a wheel well.

this looks promising

NOTE!!! I will add that there is some out of town interest also for cases like Liro and any others who may be interested.

Below is a draft. The letter will obviously look nicer and be formatted professionally. I need input from people as to what you'd like to see added to a letter like this.
-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------

INTRODUCTION

I am writing to you on behalf of my fellow members at 7thgencivic.com (Ottawa Chapter, a.k.a. Gen Seven).

Our community is tight to the point where individuals between Ottawa and Toronto know each other on a first name basis from meeting several times a year. The online community has a wide variety of categories in which members can talk miscellaneous things, but mostly the site is divided into highly focused sections. See Appendix A for sections.

The website spans across Canada and the United States, thus bringing individuals across North America into the forums. With almost 23 000 members, there are lots of project ideas in the air at our site.

PROPOSAL

As you may imagine, there are some rather unique vehicles out there with home made custom pieces on the interior or exterior. All this creativity comes at a cost for the members as car parts are ruined or broken in the first attempts at a project. These parts have become rather costly so most members have turned to internet mail orders, and wait for their wholesale parts to arrive.

Ottawa is looking for a dealership sponsor to get us all parts at cost plus 5% or 10%, and vehicle servicing at a discounted price.

We are also looking for an agreement with your garage where our members can consult your service advisors as to which aftermarket parts you will let us install without affecting our vehicles’ warranties.

PROMOTING YOUR BUSINESS

A sub-group called Gen Seven was created out of the 7thgencivic.com site, the corresponding sub-site is genseven.com. These 60 or so members participate in a variety of car shows across Ontario and would be willing to display any banners you would like to provide us with as part of our agreement. The show which is of most interest to you would be Dark Nights in Ottawa. However, we could get the banner out to other shows in the province for future brand recognition in the event that someone moves to Ottawa and will remember your name.

APPENDIX A

General Auto Ramblings

Track/Street/Strip

Wheels, Tires, and Brakes

Suspension Performance

Other Products and Parts

Forced Induction and Swaps

Tech Stuff

Legal Questions and the Law

Member’s Rides Talk

Vehicle Issues/Problems

So here is my suggestion....I think that this is a good idea but stating that we are over 60 members I think is a bad idea. In there mind they will be working with over 60 people and to them they think they could make a **** load of money. In truth only the Ottawa people and maybe a few from To would use this Honda dealership. So lets say they go for this (thinking 60 people) and really only 20 use them. They might get a little pissed. Maybe they wold never of gone for it if they new only 20 people are involved. My other suggestion is to not only use 7thgens. I know myself and Jeremy (if it is a good deal) would use this service aswell. We both have older cars and Jeremy is doing something "special" with his car. So using Honda is something we both do.

Using gen7 would be a good idea if you were actually an active car club. I say this cause really all you guys do is have stickers on your cars, go to one meet and the one show you could of shown in as a group you didn't. I remember darknights and the Ottawa people and one TO guy showed as gen7. Everyone else showed as something different. If you are going to get someone to give you a deal with the promise of car shows then you have to compete in car shows. This is something we wanted to do but like most of us know car shows are expensive so can everyone confirm that they will be in atleast 3 carshows this year? You can't promise them something and not go through with it. So again I think we should be honest with them and actually tell them how many of us would be interested. Saying over 60 is going to be a lie inless you actually have that many. They will expect 60 and offering us a discount based on 60 people. This is just what I think

Civic motors at St Laurent is awsome. Sometimes they give me free shizzle if I recommend going to them! Yesterday I got free JDM trunk shocks from the parts counter because I am looking to do an automatic trunk opening (these things cost $100 each)

Karen, you're right, we wont mention 60 people.

Andrew! You've had luck with those guys!? Everytime I go in I am pissed off when I leave cause they **** all over me. They refused to do warranty work on my tranny because it was too low to the ground.

Anyways, it doesn't hurt to contact them again so long as they don't give people problems with lowered cars. I know Hunt Club and Dow doesn't.

Anyways, keep the ideas flowing!

hunt club honda is probably the way to go, ottawa prelude club has roughly 20% discount there..........we deal with a guy named morris........maybe try him??? i wouldnt mention the 20%, try to get more!

I knew a couple people who worked at honda but not anymore and they could get DEALER COST........which is like 40-50% discount off MSRP price!!!

i wish i could find a hook-up like that again!

i need a couple OEM things too for my vic....let me know how this goes.......im still gonna try to find a honda canada contact and get the huge discount........someone must know someone that works at honda!!
