Airbag marks showing on dash - 2004 Civic?
Airbag marks showing on dash - 2004 Civic?
Any of you guys/gals notice a faint rectangle shape on the dash, right above the "SRS Airbag" text (passenger side). I just noticed it the other day and now it bugs me big time!!! Also spoke with a friend with an 04 and he has the same mark, but didn't notice it until I pointed it out to him.
What well the dealer say/do???
Thanks,
PWOTTAWA

I think that is normal to see something but how bad is it. Is it like your friends or worst? I just ask casue your friend didn't notice....so if they are the same that tells me that it's not that bad.

hey d00d! welcome to the site!
as for the airbags, it's probably really subtle, but one of those things that once you see once, you'll see it every time!
So tell us about yourself... what do you drive? (model, colour, mods?)

Hi there and welcome
I have those marks on my 05 and its pretty normal...It needs to be thinner there to let the airbag deploy..Its actually better than the old Civic when they use to have those big square boxes with the airbag in them..loll
Again welcome and get some pics

Yeah like mentioned above, The dash material needs to be a different consistency for the airbag to deploy properly. Therefore it will fade more than the rest of the dash. I have those marks as well .... and a little crack in my dash from STUPID ARMOURAL WIPES!!!! don't ever buy those ... use the simonize wipes. they won't dry out your dash.
Like Freddy said, tell us about your ride dude! Welcome to the site, how'd you find out about it?

Hey, thanks for the comments!
I'm going to check out the dealer to see if the 0km cars have same rectangle visible. I'm thinking it's showing up after driving a bit (I have less then 7000km) or may be the cold?
I tried taking a pic but the mark wasn't visible.
Mods >> Clifford Alarm and power trunk.

I want a pop up trunk also so let me know how you did it and how much did the trunk cost??
Thanks
Yes I installed the alarm and pt.
I pulled the alarm out of my trade in (2000 Focus
). Parts for the pt (solenoid, relay, wiring, fuses etc.) cost $50 and it took about 3 hours to install. Hardest thing to do is find a place to mount the solenoid inline with the trunk release mechanism within the trunk body.

I'd still go check with the dealer though. You never know...there might be a recall

Airbag sounds like its normal .. its just one thing that fades faster and as mentioned above, once you notice it - it'll always be there. Unless you choose to ignore it, but well we are car people and I doubt any of us can ignore it
Umm .. possible thread jack in progress but well .. I'm confused as I believe it was just a power trunk (ie remote trunk release like in the ELs) .. what I think you'd want to do Si2NV is do what Viper did and replace the springs (Viper's - I almost killed myself today thread) Made me want to do it in the spring - though that borders on the question of wanting to keep the car..

^ ah shizzle...my bad! thx for clearing it up for me janlop!
what i was gonna do is make my trunk open by two small hydraulic arms of some kind. Dunno if anyone has done it but I think it would be pimpin if you can open your trunk all the way just by unlocking it

if you bring it to Honda, they might charge you about $50 just to check the code
SRS airbag light can come on caused by any electrical stuff
if you like, you can disconnect the battery for 5 min, reset the system, and if it comes on again, you can then take it to the dealer. but if your car is new and have no electrical or any other mods, you can talk to honda dealer to get it done free
