Oh deer!!!! ***LOTS OF PICS***
First off, i'd just like to thank everyone who was there on Friday, you really made all this easier on me!
So here's my story (and it's a long one, but i have lots of pics to show at the end)
Last friday, at our weekly meet, we decided to go out to the Gatineau park for a nice drive to the top of the mountain. It's a very nice cruise with a few good turns and the view at the top is simply unbelievable. I live about 5 minutes away from there, so in the sumer time i usually go on that road maybe once a week, so i know it and its corners rather well...
Anyways, so we were on that road and i was all the way at the back of the pack. I was driving along when i saw Mike's car at the side of the road, so i decide to stop to see what the problem was. Turns out he was having oil problems so he decided to turn back i on the other hand decided to continue on to meet the others who were already at the top by now. After a few minutes of driving, a saw a deer start running accross the road towards my lane, so i swerved to avoid him, and as i did i hit the gard rail on my passenger side. At this point, both my passenger wheels were on grass so i had no traction, so i ended up riding the gard rail for a good 20 meters, at which point i left the guard rail and slid accross the road to find myself on the grass sliding some more on the other side of the road. I ended up in a ditch and my car fliped on the driver side... When my car came to a stop, my car was resting on the driver side. I took off my seat belt and tried opening my passenger side too, but it was just too heavy to lift. But since my car was still running, i managed to open my sun roof and slip out through there.
Notice that at this point i'm standing pretty much in the middle of nowhere... no street lights, nothing... it's pitch black, i'm all alone and i'm standing next to my car which is flipped to it's side. My cell phone was getting bad reception cause of the mountains and all the trees, but on the 4th try i managed to get ahold of the police. After talking to the police i called Landin who was at the top of the hill, so they all came looking for me and found me standing next to my pour, pour car... (don't ask me to sell parts yet, cause from the looks of it, i'm not parting out just yet!!!)
Anyways, gave the police all the info... they called a tow truck to have my car taken away
Alright, for all those who were wondering, i don't have a single scratch on me... not one bruise or cut. I walked out of there physically fine. Which is quite surprising when looking at my car!
Anyways, my car's been sitting at the Garage since then and i've been thinking of what i should do with it. The frame has not been damaged, so it's not a write off... and right now, i'm probably not gona claim insurances cause i don't have a very good record... even if it was either hit the deer or take the ditch, the insurances would put the blame on me... and i would just end up paying for it more than once in the long run anyways... So i'm gona get the money and get it fixed myself.
It seems to be mostly body damage... front and rear bumpers, fenders, side panels... passenger tail light and headlight... front suspension... new wheels... new paint job...
I hopefully already have a front and rear bumper lined up, same for fenders. The rest i'll look in scrap yards to try to cut down the cost. But odds are, i won't have my car for a good 3 weeks!
Anyways, i won't bore you any longer with all this... so here are the pics to give you a much better idea of the damage!

Okay, before anyone flames me for this, this is exactly why we hunt deer.
Now, before the encroachment of man, deer ran around. Also wolfes ran around and ate the deer. The wolfes kept the poplulation down, this was the beauty of mother nature. Now man comes too close and basicalle the wolves leave. So the deer overpopulate and come into the city parts and cross roads.
People die each year from collisions with the deer. Sometimes, it is lucky as our member just experienced. He will survive and fix his car. Some are not so lucky.
So each year, the game wardon issues permits to hunt a certain amount of deer. Only enough permits are given out to kill enough deer to regulate their population. The deer are not endangered and this hunting actually makes the deer population stronger, since they cannot overeat and destroy their habitat. And it kills the deer that are wondering into the city, so it makes the roads safer.
Did you know that deer accidents rise right before deer season and fall off as hunting season goes along? For those that say the hunting is senseless, it is not. Every hunter I know eats the deer. So what is the difference in this and a big mac? None. Is is wrong to feed your family? No, is it wrong to protect drivers from senseless accidents like this one, no.
Senseless killing would be wrong, wiping out the species would be wrong, but legal hunting does neither. As I stated only enoug permits are issued to regulate the population, no more. in 1996, there were 68,000 deer accidents.
Here are some basic, common sense tips to help you avoid these “close encounters”:
Look for deer, especially in the evening -- and slow down if you see them;
Watch for deer-crossing signs, a reminder to drive cautiously;
Drive at lower speeds through a posted deer area any time of the day or night;
Use good sense -- wear safety belts; stay awake, alert and sober;
If you can't stop, don't swerve out of your lane. It's generally safer to hit the deer than run off the road or risk injuring another motorist; and
If you hit a deer, report the crash to local law enforcement.
So be careful, and remember that hunting is part of the circle of life.

Damn .. I had to look those pictures over twice as I just didn't believe it. Glad you weren't hurt Freddy, but it still hurts to see your car like that.
I might have my OEM passenger headlight if you want it .. I know my driver side was damaged so they aren't any good to me. I'd just need to find it and make sure it is in working order.. though I wonder if there is a difference between that for sedan and coupe..
PM me to remind me if you want it - as I'll probably forget about it after tonight.

re: pic # 20...glad to see your neon install job held up!
abe - you could learn a thing or two from freddy
<my $0.02>
if you are taking this to a garage, just get them to fix the parts of the body that you can't do yourself. I know you're buyin bumpers, which is great. take this opportunity to get M3 fenders, a carbon fibre hood, KW's, rear disc brake conversion, projector/halo's, etc.
We can do everything ourselves, with the exception of the big fat piece that runs from the windshield all the way to the trunk. that's a biotch to remove/install. for the rest of it: don't waste your money on a garage.
for the amount of money a garage would do it for, you could have a whole new body kit, suspension pimped, etc. The only thing that we wouldn't do ourselves is paint (sorry superfishy
)
again, let me know if you want any help at all. don't look as this as a loss, look at this as a new beginning. you've got a lot of potential with it...don't waste your money on putting it back to stock!!!

he he, but yeah, i'm really happy i walked out of there, cause i hit the guard rail at the very begining. Had the dear apeared any sooner i would have either hit the guard rail dead on, or ended up in the forest and hit multiple trees... also, when my car tipped to it's side was in a little clearing only a few meters wide... there where trees all around except where my car was! no doubt about it, i was very lucky!
