That thing in the background is the Nation Research Council (NRC) Windtunnel. They do scientific stuff there, test out models of boats, cars, planes (well the wings and main body) to see how they fair in real life conditions.
It's pretty big if you were to see it in real life, and it's louder than hell, especially if your standing right beside it
