type r 12 is rated at 500 rms and is a dual 4, excellent SQ sub and it gets very loud, i was going to use 2 12s, but just one was loud enough for me.

mrd-m501 is a great amp, d-class mono 550 rms, all digital amp. its the best part of the system, they cost a lot in stores, i dont know how much though.

box: this is a custom built box, not those shitty prefabs. its built specifically for the type r 12, will work with other subs, but its perfect for this sub. if you guys have tried to get custom boxes done, you know itll cost well over $200.

package: this is an all alpine system and looks and sounds excellent. honestly you wont believe how loud and clean this setup is unless you hear it. the box plays the largest role in this, and is the reason that its so loud for a single 12.

the orion 1200d is rated at 1200 rms @ 1 ohm, but pushed a little over 1400 rms, obviously its a d-class mono. VERY clean and powerful amp, if you know about it then obviously you know it retails for over 1000 in stores and the stores buy it for over 700

the type r is actually only 400 rms....but thats the same sub/box combo i have and im powering it with a JL 500/1......trust me...its LOUD. not only that....but its clean as hell and super responsive throughout the entire frequency range....someone should hop on this.

oh snap! youre right....even the alpine site says it. haha. I didnt know they bumped it up 100w from last year. w00t! lol. Either way....I still love it. I have the '05 model too and it ****in HITS!!
