Living expenses I would say aren't too bad. Depending on where you live, accomodations are reasonable.
Traffic is bad in the mornings, especially on Hwy 1 @ the Port Mann bridge during rush hour. Also bad in the city I would imagine but I never go there so I would not know.
Crime in surrey is bad. Lots of drug fueled auto thefts and rowdy kids who think they are the ****. I hate Surrey and as a resident I would advise you to live elsewhere.
Jobs I would not say are terribly abundant, but that all depends on the industry you want to get into. You can always get a job, but not necessarily in the line of work that you prefer.
Other than that though, it is great here. There is a lot to see and do, and the people are generally friendly. It is not overcrowded, and Vancouver/Lower Mainland has been voted the best place to live in the world.
Come on down man what do you have to lose? We can never have too many 7th gens down here...

nah, its not that bad.
while back on the news i saw a story of a guy who had a brand new Civic SiR... left it running outside of a gas station in Surrey while he ran in to grab a drink or something quick... comes back out and is SURPRISED when his car was gone???
lets think here -- Civic SiR left running unlocked and unoccupied in the car theft capital of Canada... yet he's surprised its missing 120 seconds later?
