Alberta members - Are your insurance rates decreasing?

Just curious,

I received my statement the other day to renew my insurance and it came with some info regarding Alberta's insurance reduction stuff.

My insurance is going down $24 a year, so I'm saving $2 bucks a month. That's not much, but I wasn't expecting it to be.

How's about the rest of you... do you know if your rates will drop yet?

What kind of a driving record do you have?

I think the Journal did a big story just recently where it got some 'leaked' info that a lot of the rate cuts will be for people with poor driving records whereas it they were intended to be for those w. good driving records, it was scandalous.

No accidents, no tickets... clean record...

Yeah, I heard about that too, where they said that as much as 50% would be reduced off of someone in Alberta with a horrendous driving record. I wasn't too happy to say the least...

From what I've heard insurance companies weren't too happy about it either and a lot of them consequently probably won't be taking on higher risk clients. Suffice to say, from what that article said, I don't think your insurance rates will be going down any more.

I suppose time will tell, I guess thats what we get for electing the conservative party for the 10th consecutive year in a row, heh.

At least the government did something about rising insurance costs(contrary to what conservatives stand for). My rates were going up every month before the reform and that was on a clean driving record of 7yrs. I topped out at $145/mnth and now I'm down to about $132/mnth($3 from the reform and $10 from turning 25).

Man, I miss the days of $104/mnth on my 7thgen.

man this insurance **** needs to be fixed. most of us who are good defensive drivers, with clean records, are paying out our ***. granny smith though has cheap insurance and can barely see the road. i had some old granny driving on the wrong side of the road. good thing it was on a back road and she actually noticed that she was being retarded.
