Exclamation Dennis - Sept 19, Auto X registration now open.

This is for you Dennis.

Registration form for Auto X on Sept 19 is open, you need a major credit card cost is $20. Registration closes on Sept 12, 2004. Click here.

Directions on how to get to Namao on Sept. 19. Click here.

Fyi, there is another Auto X held on Sept. 11 at the Griesbach barracks. Cost is also $20 and you can register and pay on site.

Below is directions for Sept.11

For both events the car must be roadworthy, everything has to tightend down, loose items removed, battery has to have a tie down and you need a DOT and Snell 95 approved helment. Make sure you bring a drivers licence, that is a given, and vehicle registration, again another given.

Imo, the Sept.11 is much easier for the people who are trying it out for the first time. Namao can be very technical.

There is one more in Oct. that is held in Namao. If you want I can post it when registration is available.

your civic should have a batttery tie down, it is the black metal piece on top of your battery.

as for helmet alberta cycle should have some decent ones for 120 or less.

Namao is unpredictable, sometimes it is full sometimes not. For example last event only 35 cars showed up.

I hope you can grab one, that way I can go for a ride along with you on your runs.......

sweet....mind you snell 95 is the absolute minimum you should be buying. If I was you I would buy one rated newer say snell2000 or higher.

Reason being once a helmet is more than 10 years old it is not approved any more.

well, bought a helmet today. checked out canadian tire, nothing but crappy helmets. went back to alberta cycle. they had helmets 4 sale for 100$, weren't snell approved tho. they didn't have any helmets in the bargain bin, only gloves and ****. then he was showing me and open faced helmet, and i bought it! little over 100$. looks stupid on me tho:\ oh well. i was gonna post some pics but they are too big do you have an open faced helmet or closed?

I have a closed faced helmet. It is bascially a crotchrocket helmet, I took off the visor. You can run with a open faced helmet, at all Autocross events. The only place that does not allow open faced helmets is Stratotech.

For $100 and some change you got a good deal, I paid about the same price for mine.

I would not worry how it looks on you, no one is really gonna notice or care for that matter, in fact all they care about is their times.

statotech is actual racing with other cars on the track at the same time right? f*uck, if i eventually wanna try that out then i'll have to buy another helmet. well the guy at alb. cycle said i can return it within 15 days, even if i use it(we worked out, pretty cool guy actually). im gonna try it out on sat tho, tired of running around
btw, you got any more specifics on saturday's event?

Well you do not have to worry about Stratotech Dennis. I doubt they will allow any more cars there. We had a lot of carnage happen the last time I ran there. If anything next years events will at held at Namao and Racecity in Calgary.

Fyi there is a high performance driving school held annually in Calgary, I am going to sign up for that next May. The cost is $400 for two days of track time

As for specifics on Saturdays event, Just show up between 9 and 9:30 am for registration and tech. Make sure your you have no loose items in the car or trunk, you must have a battery tie down, and car has to be roadworty. Personally I do not think you should worry too much, your car is still new. The cost is $20. This Saturday's event is a CCCC which means there might be corvette drivers from out of town, which also means the earlier you show up the better the chances of you getting a spot to race.

this is what i got back:
I've added your name to the security list, although without
> your vehicle
> >info, you may not be allowed on the base anyway.
> >
> >If you're going to compete, be sure to bring your drivers
> license and proof
> >of ownership of the car. If you don't own the car, you will
> need written
> >permission from the registered owner. Also, if you're under
> 18, you will
> >need written permission from your parents allowing you to compete
after i wrote back, he had this to say:
We'll have the registration/tech inspection sheets on site. You can pick one
up from the registration table, where you will also pay the $20.

If you own the car then the registration is your proof of ownership.

so having said that, i think im good see ya at the races, lol. you wanna head out at the same time?

Yeah sure if you want, we can meet up. You know where the Tim Hortons is on 97 st? The one north of 137 Ave? We can meet up there if you want, we can meet up at 8:45 there, that way when we get there it is 9:00 am exactly.

theres a tim hortons on 132ave and like 142ave or something. there used to be one on 137th by the old save-on, but it doesn't exist anymore. theres a wendy's on 137th, you sure its not a different one? but yeah, sounds good. i still gotta register, but i guess that would give us enough time. sounds good man

I believe it is the Tim Hortons on 142 Ave, the one I am thinking of is by a Slave-On Foods, Crappy Tire and a Wacko Bell/KFC.

Just curious... Do they have different classes/divisions for the races, or is it just the luck of the draw type deal?

Your car is classed according to the modifications it has on it. When you race you will be racing against the cars in your class.
