Thinking about trading in the CL-S
Thinking about trading in the CL-S
Well, I didnt' plan on keeping this car too long, and now i'm thinking about getting something different. I have a couple of approaches,
1) buy one used german sport sedan, i am considering a 2.7Bi-Turbo S4, or a 540 6spd. But the fuel economy (and maybe maint.) does not look the best on these cars, still nice, quick and fun to drive cars.
2) Buy a 6th gen SiR, or maybe another 7th gen as a daily driver (2k2 probably), and order myself a R32 GTR with some light mods from import concern for the fun, really fast car. I wasn't even considering this until I saw a White GTR on the northside (i'm sure it was an illegal car), and was very impressed with it in person. plus it seemed very fast (I was following in my CL-S)
I think i'm leaning more towards the second option. Not dead set on an SiR, I just think it would make a reasonable Daily driver. Other options could be a Miata (where i live it snows one or two days a year, and i can always borrow my parents pathfinder), P5, or anything else you guys think would be affordable, practical, and fun to drive. It needs to be a 4 banger, and it needs to be a stick. I think either of these make more sense then putting money into my CL-S. Opinions?

questionable auto trans calls for questionable reliability with high mileage and lack of warranty, so unless i decide to try to do the six speed swap I dont trust it. on top of that these things depreciate too much. looking back I would much rather i had picked up a G35 Sedan just because of the way it holds value in comparison. but no regrets right. The CL is definatly a nice car. It has some *****, esp on the highway. I've gotten up to over 200 on a 2 lane in the rockies passing one car before the line changes to double solid. I also made it from hope to edmonton in about 8 hours on that trip, heh. Very comfy, its definatly nicer inside than a G35. It's really the trans that i'm concerned about, sure it's covered under warranty for sometime yet, but it wont always be, and in the mean time it's losing value fast. i suppose i only want to spend a little less than needed to keep the CL, and get a GTR, but add mods, and tranny swaps etc, and it's just not worth it.
6spd conversion requires, Tranny, Clutch, Relocation of ebrake, new center console, ECU. plus labour.
option 2 is looking good to me. Get some new seats in the SiR (maybe the seats out of the 7th gen SiR). HID kit, and springs/struts and it should be a nice daily driver. plus the awesome stereo i already have.
