Cracked front windshield--what to do, what to DO?

My front window has two long cracks, both stemming from rock chips.

Do I take it to the dealership, or a glass specialist? And if its the latter, where would you recommend that I go?

Also, how much should I expect to pay for a new windshield?

Dealer => $$$$

Glass Specialist => Reasonable

But the dealer gives you an OEM Windshield

I don't know what the Glass Specialist gives you

Wow, $700?
I went to Apple and it cost me just over $300. Still a little expensive, but hey.

You should be able to fix the crack at places like Speedy, last time they fixed my rock chip/crack free because ICBC covers that kind of stuff.

Re: Cracked front windshield--what to do, what to DO?

First and foremost, you should call your insurance company as soon as possible. Many insurance companies cover 100% of the windshield repair or replacement. You may be stuck going to their recommended shop, but who cares if they cover it, right?However if it’s a full blown crack you’re gonna need to shell out the cash for a brand new windshield. In this case make sure you shop around.

Re: Cracked front windshield--what to do, what to DO?

I got a crack that goes straight down from the top to the middle of the glass... Is that even repairable?

As for the insurance theories... You think it's still legit if I call now and say I JUST had the glass cracked lol

Re: Cracked front windshield--what to do, what to DO?

cracks are not repairable, only chips that havent cracked yet. insurance may deny you if the crack is not blocking your driver view of the road. most aftermarket glass replacements are pretty cheap material and dont look as nice as the oem honda one, but they cost much less like around $200. since windshields are a high wear item and you will likely get many more rocks and chips in the new one, quality isnt as important.
