d17a1 head on a d16y7 block?

Hey all, I don't get here very often as i work too damn much but i figure this is the place for this question. I snagged a k1 lx stickshift with a rod knock. I was going to find a good used motor and started thinking, i have a d16y7 long block laying around. I realize the coils wont work on the d16 valve cover but is it possible to swap the d17 head to the d16 block? If so, what might be involved?

Thanx

I doubt this is going to work as the water/oil jackets will not line up properly without some heavy machining. The D17A1 does not come with VTEC it is capped at 115hp (not 127-130hp like the D17A2).

thanx, thats what i was wondering. i'm pretty sure the manifolds and stuff would bolt to the d16 but its the coil situation that would really screw me. guess i'll tear down thw d17 and see whats salvageable.
