need specific info on k-series vs. b-series
so i have an '01 EX as well as the itch for more power. im interested in swapping out, but have absolutely no knowledge of this kind of stuff. my first question is which k/b series would i be considering? second, the price break down for both engines for cost of the engine, labor and whatever remaining stuff ill need to buy. thirdly legality, as i will need to pass inspection. show mercy on a newbie???
Re: need specific info on k-series vs. b-series
you can only swap a k series into your civic... those are the only mounts made for motor swaps into a em2 chassis.
as long as you have kpro which is $900 alone you can pass smog.
do some research on a complete k series engine.. and you will see the prices... prices are around 2800-3800 for a k20 complete swap and 2000-2700 for a tsx complete longblock.

Re: need specific info on k-series vs. b-series
you can use any honda K series motor, for the complete swap, tranny, motor, hondata, motor mounts, exhaust, wiring harness', shift linkage, axles, clutch, radiator, and other parts and odds and ends your gonna need, its gonna cost upward of 6 or 7 grand for the full swap. think about boost, cheaper and possibly more power depending on goals and the amount of cash u feel like spending. then if you dont do the swap yourself your gonna have to pay a shop an arm and a leg for them to do it for you so your looking at around 10 grand all together give or take. i would seriously look into turbo if i were you
