K23 Swap
K23 Swap
I'm not planning on doing it but would it be more better to do a a k24 swap with the k20a head and the type s tranny or do a k23 swap since the k23 is turbo and you can just get a bigger turbo.
Re: K23 Swap
yea the k23 is the RDX turbo motor sorry if I wasn't clear but the compression on the pistons is 8:1 so you can run high boost as long as the internals are strong enough. I'm assuming they are but my question is would it be a better deal than doing the k24 build vs the k23
Re: K23 Swap
I think it's been covered that the RDX motor is WAY to tall to fit into a civic engine bay.
Just found this, it looks like the problem is a top mount intercooler, which you could probabaly reroute to an FMIC. HT has an interesting article from a magazine also:

Re: K23 Swap
the k23 will not work. It has been covered many of times on k20a.org. It was attempted by one on there also. He ended up selling th motor if i remember correctly. Honda Tuning magazine said that the motor was almost completely unswappable because of the AWD and how computer controlled the car is.

Re: K23 Swap
It is possible with the right amount of $$$ but the only reason to do it would be to say you can. You would spend a **** ton of money for what 240hp and 260tq. Build a normal k series, boost it and for less money you will be able to hit 400-500hp
Re: K23 Swap
I didnt even think of the rdx being swapped. i see that as a whole new era of the honda/acura relm. its way advanced for ne kind of swap right now but yeah the k20 head k24 bottom turns out good. i saw an em2 in my area do that swap and saw the car dyno! it was nice to see the hp and tq very close to each other.
Re: K23 Swap
well thanks, I just saw the motor and thought that would be interesting. But I did google it I forgot to look on k20a.org but regardless it is interesting and I forgot about the awd feater the car has so yea. I was unaware of the motor being to tall but not everything is interchangeable with honda
I'll flip out and kill people.

Re: K23 Swap
or do a j-series swap! people are trying it on k20a.org, but it's rediculous IMO. besides, the k23 is HARD to find and expensive as it is.
Re: K23 Swap
your going turbo in the D17Ax before you swap? why waste the money on the turbo build and put that into the swap. for the price of the build on the turbo you could get the motor or other parts for the swap like the subframe, axles, mounts, etc.

Re: K23 Swap
^^ that is tru but if he doesn't know much about cars he can learn alot by doing the turbo build before he swaps... that is if he decides to swap after he does the turbo build....
