Vacuum Manifold
Vacuum Manifold
I have a Vac Manifold I am installing to clean things up a bit .... Whats the best spot to get vacuum from. I see the brake booster line is a common choice, I wanted to run the vac manifold in line but the 2nd end has a cap on it? Anyone know that thread pitch or done that?
Re: Vacuum Manifold
^^^ Its a little manifold you hook one source of vacuum up to and it gives you 6 sources of vacuum so all your vacuum lines are connected to one spot instead of all over.

well, while this thread is back from the dead, here's where my thread of my vacuum manifold setup. i dont have pics of where i newly tapped it, but if you look at the last engine bay pic where the brake booster line goes down, i tapped it right at after that [top] bend.

Re: Vacuum Manifold
actually if its a golden eagle its not NPT on the ends of it. It requires a special o-ring seal nipple as i recall. I got mine from a company that builds /repairs hoses of ALL sorts shapes and sizes. Was only a coupel dollars. I could take a picture if someone wants it?
Re: Vacuum Manifold
I had a golden eagle, the actual thread pitch is 3/8 NPT. That has nothing to do with the hose size. You can have a 3/8 NPT (large) thread pitched fitting with any sized barb for almost any sized hose, just depends on your needs. The reason it uses o-rings is because the NPT fittings aren't self sealing the same way that AN fittings are.

Two common pipe thread sizes exist, the tapered National Pipe Thread (NPT) .......The tapered threads are for joining and sealing
Re: Vacuum Manifold
Most of the NPT fittings you come across aren't tapered, AN fittings usually are. I know for my fuel fittings on my fuel rail, the inlet and outlet are both 3/8 NPT and without teflon tape, they leak, they won't seal 100%. As far as the vac manifold goes, I tried searching honda-tech and google and couldn't find anything as far as the size on the ends. But the 6 barb fittings are 1/8 NPT, I know that but they aren't tapered, either.
