I wouldn't worry about the stock IM cracking. If you are going to building somewhat high hp motor, then you should be more worried about flow.

Buds302 will become famous soon enough
just find yourself a Y8 IM and you wont have to worry about it...or even an aftermarket Y8..

i have a separate question....since the Y8 mani can be made to fit...i wonder if any other D series mani will fit? i know on the D16A6 mani the water jacket is square i believe but i put a Y8 on my A6 and it worked fine.

It's the stock intake manifold from the D16Y8 (96-00 Civic Ex motors, IIRC)

It's pretty straight forward...Here's a link to a DIY

I've been contemplating recently about modifying the stock intake manifold to withstand more pressure from boosted situation. What If you were to wrap a continous strip of fiberglass around and around your manifold and then epoxy resined the entire thing to the manifold? I think it would be a good way to strengthen the manifold. (Now you might think I'm crazy, know this: Researchers are developing ways to make bridges for cars with fiberglass composite cores. Seriously, I saw it on discovery.)

sounds good, but making it bond to the intake would be required i would think and that may be difficult to do.

actually i was discussing this with a local shop...plastic is actually the wave of the future maybe cause you dont have to port anything and its smooth, maybe just thicker plastic is needed..

and im sick of this y8 bullshit, why does everyone use a y8, the z6 flows a hell of a lot better...
