Kswap crashes?
Just currious if anyone with a k-swap has been in an accident, if so what happend.. Im thinking front end collisions. Im just currious as to what happens with the motor in the car the way it is.

Rep Power: 278 YEah but seriously if you look at a em2, they have crumple zones, the engin looks like it sticks out past those and its not going to drop underneth the car, soooo im just wondering if you get in a head on.. what is going to happen?

Rep Power: 257 well ull be gettin a new car.. and the motor will be trash. so u will be out of $ cuz u cant re-sell it and the insurance company does not give $ for mods, just fot w/e the car is worth how u bought it stock.

yet anouther reason im looking into getting a second car...

anyways if you think about it our engine bays are all similar.. the em2.. the ep3.. and the dc5 are all similarly designed... in asia (i think its asia) they have em2's that come stock from the factory with a k20 already in it... so in answer to your question... it would be the same as if all the other civics.. regardless of the engine bay size the subframe is all the same size.. so once the subframe drops hence the motor will do the same.. now if you look at an ep3 engine bay theres is way smaller than ours soooooooo...

Yeah but the ones in asia done have aftermarket motor mounts that hole the k20 in the engine bay, there actaully fab'ed out from the factory to hold the engine. where as we have basically taken our engine now and bolted it directly 2 the fram.. I dont know if you have ever just removed the subframe, but i know my engine will sit there no problem. lol.
but i did have a friend that snapped the pasenger side mount. and he had hasports. he broke it from launching to hard. the main purpose though IMO for aftermarket mounts is to have solid poly in the mount... dont know.. its early in the morning rite now and i am tired.. lol

when i was tboned. the insurance company estimator came out and looked at my car. he has to replace the side impact bag in the seat. and i had to tell him it was from a rsx. and he also had to replace the rear wheel assembly and refinish my rsx wheel. i had to tell him exactly what was what from where. he said i spent alot on my car and said i should call up the ins and tell them to up personal property so it would cover my engine swap n other stuff..
anyways, i just got my ins bill. it went from 2300 for 6 months to 1000
when i was tboned. the insurance company estimator came out and looked at my car. he has to replace the side impact bag in the seat. and i had to tell him it was from a rsx. and he also had to replace the rear wheel assembly and refinish my rsx wheel. i had to tell him exactly what was what from where. he said i spent alot on my car and said i should call up the ins and tell them to up personal property so it would cover my engine swap n other stuff..

Rep Power: 290 well i crashed my this past monday, I was pulling into work and i was rear-ended by a ****ing explorer. So i might be selling everything still waiting to hear from the insurance co. This has been the worst week of my life.
^^^that sux man. I told my insurace agent that I have alot of aftermarket stuff, because I am more worried about it being stolen. All that he said is if I had documentation I was good. I was like WTF?? I would have thought they cared that I turned my car from a 16 sec snail into 14 sec sleeper, but I guess not
