Hi, i have got the low oil check light on occassionally when i start my engine. it happens radomly regardless of what time of the day the engine is started. Are there any implications? and what oil press would be safe? Then, i was thinking of changing my setup and go for a top mount mani this time. any pros and cons on top mounted turbos? The 7th gens are kinda cramp in the engine bay so i thought this setup wpuld free up some space..thanks

The oil issue....check your compression and reference the manual. Once the engine starts, the light should turn off, not stay on. If it stays on after, you might want to see where the problem is.

As far as the topmount goes, I'm surprised to see someone on this forum mention it. I've actually been very interested into trying to have one fabbed for a 7th gen. I think that, yes, they are beneficial. B series motors have been getting ridiculous gains by going that route simply by the heat displacement. If you can get your hands on one, I'd love to see it. Have you spoken with any decent fab shops about it yet? If so, who?

Well, basically, there are two major pros to the topmount design versus the standard designs, even on equal lengths. Having longer runners enables less restriction, therefore better flow. Also, what I mentioned earlier about displacing the heat. There are some good articles about that out the manifolds, just look around h-t, I'm sure you'll find some good stuff.

Yeah, I just tried looking too, couldn't find anything that really breaks it down either. Best thing is to look for articles and books on flow dynamics if you're really interested. Think of V8's and the super long runners they use....same idea....
