K24a1 Motor
Im gunna be getting a K24a1 motor from a CR-V and a k20a2 trany, and I just wanted to know if, I will need to get a sub frame still. And do I need to get a raditor from a RSX or an si also? And do I NEED to get a kpro for it to run? And this motor around 160hp and 162 tq, is that to the wheels? and this will beat a d17 right? lol cuz im sick of this SOHC, I wanna be able 2 beat my 2 friends B18B1's, this motor will do it right? future plans are a turbo kit for it. and yes I did do some searchin, mostly on the k20.org and most posts were about putting it in older cars. thanks for the help

It sounds to me like you don't know **** about what your doing...I'm sorry, but before you go buying anything you better do some research on it and learn. You do know that you just can't pop a K24a1 into your car and make it run. Your going to either have to convert the harness over yourself or have someone do it for you. Your going to need Hasport Mounts for the K24, not the k20 because the motor needs to sit a little lower to clear the hood. You going to need Kpro, SI radiator, your gonna need alot of stuff to get this rolling. If you plan to buy a K24a1 you should think about doing the K20a2 head which should run you around $850-$900 give or take. Run the 5 spd SI tranny because of the longer gears. The a1 head would be fine to run because its a decent head, its better than the A3. Your still going to need the subframe also, there is not getting around that really. You sound like an uneducated person about this, your just wanting to go out buy the engine throw it in an expect to/want to beat your friends. Its going to take over $5k to get this thing running. You'll need to get the Kpro tuned also.

Yeah I know drew, I dont know everything but I knoq quite a bit. I just was not sure about the sub frame witch one I would need for the k24 cuz I know its bigger then the k20 so I wanted to know if the rsx would work. And I know I have 2 deal with all the wire harness hasport offers a harness already done I was planin on getting that IF this swap even happends witch proably wont. I just for some reason dont think its woth spendin $7,000 - $10,000 for this car, I mean yah K series kick *** but not for all that cash. Proably just gunna be getting dezods turbo kit for the good old D17. But thanks for the help everyone.

if you really want my set up, i sugguest to first buy a full k20a2 swap with subframe/wire harness and everything that comes with a swap and just switch out the k24 block from the k20. it will come out a lot cheaper, if if you do a hybrid, you need kpro
Smuggling bananas and mexicans all for one low price...

The immobilizer is what is forcing you to get kpro, which has the option to disable it. Also with the comments towards the a3 tranny being better, it really depends on your application.
The general rule of thumb is that if you're going N/A, the a2 tranny is the best bet (or a, but only if you dont do heavy highway driving). For boost, the a3 trannies longer gears will help out, because youll be able to stay in boost longer.
Basically you need to decide what your car is going to be in its final stage before you even DECIDE what to start buying.

I know i'm kind of late, but. Just boosting the D17 is not the answer. The price of a k20a2 swap is a little less than 6 thousand dollars installed. The price of the base dezod kit is $3,395(assuming u have an EX). Thats without fuel upgrdes and tuning. Add the extra stuff u will need, like gauges, boost controler, ect... and the price will be very close. The swap will be more reliable, but the boosted motor will, more than likely, be faster. Pick one, they will be about the same.
a built D17 boosted will come close to a MILD built k20.... but if you compare BOOST for BOOST .. the D17 will come nowehre near wehat the k20 can output.... for that matter you got all these race companies making ALL MOTOR k20's running in the 9's... no boost required
