UPDATE, just in from the track and.....

OOHHH shis,
1/4 mile 15.00 @ 96mph beat a 16.0 from a Dakota 5.9 R/T

1/4 mile 14.40 @ 97mph beat a 14.50 beat from a Cobalt SS

That is with 250 lbs of fiberglass trunk and street tires
On my last run I did 15 flat but tires where spining all the way to third.
Best reaction time .700

Very hot conditions.
Car held up great, no problems at all.
Me on the other hand colud use some improvement

After the race we picked up our jack tire toll and micelaneous stuff put in the back seat, crank the A/C full blast and went to Mc donalds drive thru
We drove it to the track and back home, about 280 miles total.
Is now setting on my garage smiling at me

I love my Vic
Pictures and hopefully video/audio will follow soon
And yes I'll post the 1/4 slips

WTF! edit: you should be very low 13's to mid 13's with ur trunk system.
you def need drag radials.

what was your best sixty foot?

my bad, last thread i read was the one he estimated 303 at flywheel.
so ill reinstate my original opinion.
you should be into the high 12's EASY! low 13's babying it.
hell if you launch it and get drag radials i wouldnt be surprised to see you getting close to mid 12's. but your system holds you back so lets not push it lol.
what do you hvae for axle upgrade?

His car is not light. He has street tires with heavy 18" rims and custom system in the truck and he sucks in driving and no traction

true but its so disappointing to see such a nice build up go to waste running those times. he needs to spend 250 bucks on some drag radials and steelies from a junkyard. then practice launching and shifting.

I need track tuning too and I'm just gald that the car held up as good as it did for 4 runns on a scorching heat.
Best 60 was 2.341, that is all me, I have a lot to learn, need practice.

Is the second time I ever realy race on any track, I'm holding back boost, and my show car has a lot of bling that's heavy.
Is more of trial and error type thing with ralistic goals, I just can't afford a brake down now.
Realisticly:
If you do the math take 250 lbs from the trunk,50 lbs wheels, 50lbs 2nd battery, 50 lbs subs that's an estimated 400lbs.
Minimum investment wheels.
Sure I'll be hitting 12's

For a fully functunal civic that runs like a tank.
I'm just gald that it held up, engine , head, drivetrain.
That's a small victory! no check engine lights or overheating and it was HOT!

I'm devating about taking the trunk and such.
Wish list
Stage 4 clutch, axels, limited slip differential, boost controler
But then I'll be building a race car.$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

MMM I don't know

that 60 foot aint bad because of your rims, and im sure you babied the launch as would i.
you figure youve got 400lbs, extra thats on average about .4 seconds it adds on. if you do all the math it ultimately comes down to you and your driving, but hey that fine.
if you like drag racing than steelies and drag radials are def a great investment right now. if not, just be happy with what your doing.
you have stock axles right now?

Good stuff for the 1st time on the track.

No offence, but it just shows that "show car - no go car".
Get some diet for your car and be easier on the gas in 1st gear and some light 15" rims to use on the strip.

I'm happy to hear that you did not use drag tires, with almost 300whp and God knows how much TQ, d17 tranny/clutch/axels could've just get fried.

drag radials on a steel rim wouldnt brake anything. he just needs to know how to launch fwd, you dont dump the clutch.
and really light wheels dont always help, my buddy got faster sixty foot times with steelies than with his 7pound 15" rims.

2.34 isnt bad for street tires. Most people on this site run in the 2.5 range.

96mph isnt very high, thats about the mph of 185 whp civic.

With 220 whp i ran a 13.6 @ 102 with a 2.0 60ft. I hope to god you werent on high boost. And if you were, go talk to your tuners. MPH is the best estimation of hp. I know your car is heavy and all, but you would have to be about 2200lbs heavier than stock to have that much of a loss if you are at 300 whp.

And believe me, im not hating on you at all. Im glad someone finally shut up all those little bastards that say "The D17 will never make 300 whp! Its impossible! And i lick my own *** while doing sit-ups!"

Im just concerned because you spent a hell of a lot of time and money on your car. And you deserve to really have that much power. And if the tuners jacked with the correction factors to boost your power to make you happy, then you should be pissed off.

So what boost level were you running?

yea ... 2.3 60' isn't that bad, especially for your 2nd time at the track ... but there's something insanely wrong with your trap speed if you have 275 whp or whatever...

my first time at the track, my best 60' was 2.400 ... so 2.3 isn't so bad.

nobody is an insanely good driver when they don't have much experience ;P

guys he explained all this. boost was turned down, he sucks at driving, its a show car not a race car. i think to even do 4 runs and make it out without a cel coming on is better than alot of stock civics do.

WORD
Remember that I'm still fine tuning my car, is a continous process.
My goal is to slowly push the car harder and harder while findding the stress points/mechanical issues on the car and fix them before they cause fatal engine /drive train issues.

And I did found potential issues, when I runned 18psi of boost the studs connecting the head to manifold stripped and popped under pressure.
I replaced all them with bigger stronger ARP studs, that worked!

I overcame the continous head gasket problems.
(Remember ARP studs, modifed block guard etc)
And the stock trany and axels are holding even with that much wheight on the track.

The A/C works! That was tricky!

I'm using caution making educated modifications downed the boost to 14 psi and start low and go from there.

What if I just go crazy, boost 25 psi on sticky tires and runn 12 flat or 11's
If the car breaks ( more likely it will after two runs) well it does
Yes I went very fast then I got no car left
Rememeber is 4k just on the paint job alone going down the track.

My car is build for the long haul and for the streets, is a solid very fast and functionable fun road car.
I'll be driving my vic while most ppl be done with theirs.
I got one full year left of shows after that will see

If you are among the very few that succesfully turbo your vic, knows what I'm talking about

If are not, I do apprecialte your imput, but you have a lot to learn
