Missing link
Hey whats up guys. Well this morning I had a little time and I decided to install the missing link to get rid of the check engine light. For starters I have a custom turbo on my car with no fuel system yet. I don't drive my car, it's in the garage. I'm saving in order to get the AEM EMS this spring and I already have the new injectors. Well I installed the missing link and I reseted the ecu. When I started the car it had a very rough idle and after it warmed up the idle went back to normal. Then I took a ride in the car. When I accelerate it starts bogging and then it picks up again ( it does this after every gear change). I was going real slow and I never produced boost. Do any of you guys know whats happening. Does it take time for the ecu to adjust to the missing link. I never heard of anything like this happening with the missing link. The car ran fine before installing this, it's just that it had the check engine light on. Any help would be appreciated guys. Thanks a lot.

Do you have the filter in the missing link? Personally i never got the missing link to work right, the plunger was very inconsistant, sometimes working, sometimes not. There is nothing for the ecu to adjust to with the missing link, all it does is prevent your map sensor from seeing ANY positive pressure values.
Check the see what your map sensor is reading at idle. Sound to me like there is a vacuum leak around the map sensor, which would explain why when you started it there is a rough idle (open loop , running way to rich) then when your 02 sensor warms up its takes control of the idle A/F ratio (closed loop) giving you a perfect idle.

Just remember that a leak through the filter port (running with no filter) will cause a big drop in your vacuum/pressure reading from your map sensor, causing it to think its under load, therefore more fuel is added.

I think if you have no boost, then running missing link you will have manifold laeking preassure that may affect map readings and will cause engine not to run properly...
Basicaly, when you be fully boosted, then ML will work fine because then you'll have boost and ML will cover it for map sensor, and you should run fine..

thats weird my missing link was the like one of the best little mods i got when i was turbo it made the car feel so much better. I also think it has to be that little filter or something small that is causing your problems. Good luck

Pedro's problem is basicaly he says his car doesnt run well without turbo, but with missing link...
Pedro! Put your turbo kit together faster and problem will dissapear!

You lost me on that one 03-Acura-1.7-EL. The kit has been done and installed since April of last year. The little filter is in there. I don't know what to do. I guess I will take it out tomorrow and see if the car runs better. One thing it did was getting rid of the check engine light but other than that I didn't think I was going to run into any issues. I'll get back to you guys tomorrow, hopefully with good news. Thank you everyone.

You lost me too!
Now I your situation better.
You realy dont want to drive without fuel system, boost or no boost.
It might just bogg due to you having no fuel system and stock one cant compensate for anything past idle...
I'm confident AEM EMS/emanage with proper injectors will fix your issue.

The car ran perfect before I installed the missing link. Perfect idle and no bogging since I put my turbo kit in. I drive the car at least once a week. I just drive for a few minutes around the block without boosting. And like I said the car always ran mint. I hope you know this. Do you have to run a missing link with the AEM EMS. Thanks for your help.

When boosted, mani pressure increased, this causes map to collect readings that will cause it ti think there is a problem with engine. Missing link will eliminate "boost" from MAP sensor. So it will think everything is OK.
With ML installed and without possible boost to hide, ML causing problems. And its OK for now since you dont drive it.
So to work for ML properly it needs to have bosst inside intake mani. You dont have such, so car doesnt run. Teachicaly I see your case as installing ML to a stock car....MAP gets faulty readings & engine doesnt run good at all.
I know ML is an alternative for emanage MAP clamp (not sure how its called, but something of this nature), also ML is an alternative to TSI map black box. I dont know what AEM has, but ML can be an alternative if AEM has something for MAP sensor as well.
I personaly desided to use ML, because it just looks cleaner and no electrical connections to worry about, just keep on changing little foam filter every 5-7000 mi.

What's up guys. Well a few hours ago I took the missing link out and put the sensor back to it's original spot. When I started the car it had a great idle and when I took a ride in it, it drove great, no bogging at all. Funny thing was when I took the missing link off the little filter was gone. Could the filter have gotten sucked into the intake manifold. And yes I did put it in before the install. Oh well I'm just happy the car is back to normal. Thanks guys.

You see, I told you everything will be ok.
I have never heard about small filter to sucked in...Weird.
I dont see it causing big of a deal if it gone into the engine somehow. Its foam afterall, dont worry about it.

No chance it got sucked in, there is not enough vacuum to pull it through the intake mani, but boost may have blown it out of the filter port. did you cut the filter in 3 peices or did you just put the whole thing in?
