nitrous engine setup question
nitrous engine setup question
first and foremost, i'd like to thank you all in advance, you all have been a great help.... so i wanna set up my 2005 auto ex for nitrous (i'm just out of college so i will save the turbo/swap/new car option for later)... anyhow, what is a quality setup? i'm thinking crower cam stage 1, vafc-2, what else? dunno if this helps you guys but i have a GReddy EVO 2 cat-back and thinking about the Injen RD CAI and some type of headers. I don't know too much past bolt ons but when you guys give me the ideas, i'll do some hella research. So what will help my daily driver have a little more umph than some others out there. as for my goals, this is a daily driver, i want the nitrous just in case (rare occasions), overall i want the auto to somewhat potent. No turbo, no Supercharge, no Swap (no sarcasm) EVERYTHING else goes as long as i can keep my auto d17. thanks fellas.

u want cheap performance, just get the usual i/h/e/ with 50 shot. and remove the cat with cheap megan racing downpipe.
you'll get good gains and spend about 1000 total for all that if you get them at a good deal. I ran that setup for 5 bottle fill-ups with 80shot of nitrous. just make sure you get the wet kit cause that includes the fuel setup as well.
btw my car never messed up using nitrous, my car still ran great after I took everything off. It was the turbo system (sf fmu)that ruined my engine. But even after driving with nitrous, I slapped on a turbo for about another 10k miles and finally gave up, so Im thinking nitrous deteriorates your car dramatically.

you said using no2 never messed up your motor but the turbo did an you thing no2 deteriotes your motor just making sure cause i want to add spray to my d16 sohc just still trying to figure out if its a good idea b4 i buy the kit
well nitrous deteriotes motors. I never had a problem though. I sprayed for about 50 lbs of nitrous using 80 shot. After I took it off my car ran the same. Now I added a turbo probably after I had ran the nitrous without fixing or changing anything and the turbo lasted about 10k miles until I blew a hg. It finally gave up, but if you gonna go nitrous then go back to stock it should be fine. You gotta remember that turbo deterates the car as well especially when your redlining 5th gear and constantly on boost.
it wont mess up your motor unless you use it right. WHich I did, I just didnt use the turbo right becuase redlining 5th constantly for hours with boost will mess up things and alot of people told me not to boost on 5th cause its dangerous but I did ne ways. So im guessing I didnt use it right.

i think new injectors come with the kit if you get it, theyre called "shark nozzles" or something with the NX wet kit.
I have another question about nitrous that i should probably post in another thread, but its going here anyways b/c this guy is concerned about it ruining his engine too.
ok, here goes... how can you run 93 or 91 octane pump gas on a car that only uses it half of the time you are driving, you know, when when youre spraying? do you know what i mean?
ok, a stock d17, or d15 or whatever, runs on 87 octane when you are not using nitrous (at least around here 87 is the lowest). When you have a nitrous kit, you have to use higher octane fuel, am i right? so isnt that alnoe damaging and stressing your engine because the fuel will not burn as completely? or at least not untill you press the little red button for some N2O
sorry that was so long, just want to ask my question clearly
it really isnt that clear, now that i read it....

well all i can say is save ur money for now and do more research. I had nitrous and it was somewhat fun and my d17 is still running great, but its fun when u can have the power all the time and theres so many advantages and disadvantages that its up to u. I sprayed 75 2 bottles and one time i used 91 the other 100 and it ran alright. Just make sure that u go on e and fill up a couple of times on 91 or 93 because i sprayed once on a tank mixed with 91 and some of 87 and my **** denotated a bit. Good luck

ok my personal experence with nitrous was with a dry kit (no added fuel) definitly do not go that route. get a wet kit that adds fuel to the nitrous as its injected into the cylinders.
when you run a wet kit, most of the time it will tell you to tap into the stock fuel line to feed the extra fuel when spraying nitrous. if you want to do it the right way, you can run a fuel cell with some higher octane fuel, with a in-line fuel pump, and let the nitrous have its own supply of fuel.
