engine swap
engine swap
ok i just wanted some opinons on the subject. if the 01+ civic has a d17 which is a d series engine. will the engine swap kits that apply to other d series engines apply to the d17. if emissions isnt a problem why could you swap an h22 or a b16 in i know it can be done just the ease of the install is what im intrested in. im not lookin to spend all my time fabricating brckets for an engine swap.
ok let me be the first to say.
U need to read the swap FAQ at the top of the page. U will get flamed if u dont.
And on a side note. I'm from atlanta too. If u want to do a swap for cheap comtact mainstream performance. They can do a k20a3 swap for ~4000. A type s sawp would be more.

Stick with a K series. There really is no reason to even want to swap a later gen engine into our car. It would end up costing you more money and more time to even THINK of putting sometihng other than that into the car.
Its a celebration bitches!

nobody makes mounts other than for the k-series, you will be there welding custom mounts. it wouldjust be less time comsuming if you get a k20 or k24. and there is so much more potential if you get a k series, there is a fully programable ecu with so many pimp options

plus it is super illegal to swap an older engine into a newer car. if you get pulled over by one of those anti-racing cops, and he has any knowledge of engines, he will prob. tow your car on the spot. plus if he turns you in to the EPA, you are looking at a fine in the $10,000 range. i'd go with a k motor. it's an all around better motor anyways.

The K series is overrated!?!?! Bwhahahaa. You can do all the porting in the world to a b series engine and never even reach the flow of the K series at stock... I hate to break it to you but the new birth is through this engine.
emission arent a problem they dont apply to me i dont have to conform to them. i just havent seen anything from the k that makes me say wow thats incredable but im a nissan man down deep not to hate on hondas i love em.i got an 02 civic lx 4 dr donor car to play with. anybody need parts. the car was stripped down to most of the chassis.

i don't know if you were talking about me with my EPA comment, but it has nothing to do with emissions, (well it does in a round-about way) it doesn't matter where you live. it a federal law. just like it's illegal to put a hemi from the 60's in a dodge stratus. it is just straight ILLEGAL anywhere if the car is driven on the streets. all i'm saying is, don't get caught, or you will get the raw-dog....
the laws dont apply to me i could put a v8 in a cavalier wouldnt matter. i have a 95 civic with a f20c and headers thats it no exhaust. no problem. oh well i guess its a dead topic i just wanted to see what everybody thinks. ill probably just see what the max i can get from this d17 until it pops then upgrade.
