******Sf Turbo Problem MUST READ*********
Hello everyone. I just finished my sf turbo install. All brand new parts and have spent a week making sure everything was propley installed. I started her up today and notice smoke comming from the exhaust manifold. Since my Turbo is jet coated i figured it was the breaking in period for the jet coating. After about ten minutes i turned off the civic and looked under the car for any abnormal problems. What i found was 3 drops of oil directly under the down pipe connecting to the a pipe. SO i shut off the car and started looking around. Nothing that i could see visually on the out side of the turbo. SO i disconnected the A pipe from the turbo down pipe and sure enough oil was in the exhaust. Now i know this is probley a major problem with the turbo but after running it a second time i didnt see any oil in the exhaust pipe. The third time i started the car everytime i reved it up you could see smoke comming from the turbo on the compressor side. Now this turbo is brand new from what sf said. Im running a sf kit with rsx injectors, emange with all the harnesses, and greddy boost controller. ANy info would be great.

Jeff, I hate to break this to you but chances are that your turbo is messed up. Its the same thing that happened to me. I bought a brand new kit from SF and from the very first day I started having the oil problem. In fact, we are not the only ones. Lots of people here had similar problems with SF turbos.
Mike (SF) told me to do a million things with the oil return line, the drain point, the drain angle, blah blah .... all bullshtt. I did them all and the problem was still there. Then I gave the turbo unit for a rebuild and guess what .... all the problems were gone! The turbo guy told me that the unit was a rebuild from before, and had a very rough job done ...... though it looked perfect on the outside.

I would like to thank Sf turbo for making me spend 300.00 more to get the freaken turbo rebuilt. THis kit has been a joke. First all the pipes were powdercoated wrong being that the inside of the pipes were flaking off. Now the turbo is shot and it has never been installed. If i was anyone looking to buy a turbo kit, BY DEZODS KIT. HE is a very honest person and always returns emails and pms. Cataylist if you a reading these forms you can take sf and shove it up you know what. You guys screwed so many people and didnt give a ****. As far as your future i hope it comes back and bites you in the ***!
The turbo will be rebuilt by a company down in Orange CA called Turbo City.
Thank you guys for your help. ANd if you have a sf turbo I would advise every single one of you to check your down pipe for oil Before you burn up your engine or possible your turbo. MIne was like a fountain spraying.

The reason why it has taken me so long to install the kit is because of all the mess up that the sf had with the kit. The powdercoating had to be reblasted and coated which costed me 300.00. The Manifold was spray painted and flaking off so I went had had that blasted and jet coated. I mean the kit was a mess, the turbo had small pieces of wood in it when i first got it. Catylist's comment was to me that i must have left it open sitting in the garage, umm no it had been wrapped up since day one. If you buy a sf kit be prepared to spen some money thats all i have to say. I pretty much have gotten the kit the way i feel it should be. Instead of rubber heater hose for the oil return line, your going to have to switch to a steel braded line. ANd the best way is to have a jr or earls fitting welded onto the oil pan. ANd as far as catylist being anypart of this he would never return any of my pms after i sent him pictures of how crappy the kit was! If you just want a working boosted civic buy a sf kit that you KNow has no problems or just buy the dezod kit!

id say that if you want it done right, do it yourself. Ive never trusted anyone else with my car. I built my last turbo system myself. And now im building the motor myself, and building the new turbo system, intake manifold, and return line setup myself. And im going to tune it myself.
If you truely want it done right, you have to learn EVERYTHING possible about what you want to do. Do TONS of research, and TONS of planning. Do this before you start picking out parts. I see most guys on here say "yea, i want a T3 super 60 with an emanage". And you ask them more about the setup, and those are pretty much the only two parts they know.
Before doing anything, Research, Plan, Design, then build. If you cant build the parts yourself, make sure you know as much as or more than the shop doing your kit. If they know that you know what you are talkinf about, they will not try to pull anything over on you.
Sorry to jack the thread for a minute.
I think i know what shop your talking about. I personally would trust performance techniques in San Bernadino. Ive seen their shop, and they have all the nice equipment. They balance the turbos themselves, and they pay their employees very well, which promotes good product.

"Wait - what clues about stafford being banned from the board made you STILL want to buy from him?!"
I bought my kit way before any of this happend to sf. SOme of us it takes a while to fix a turbo kit after you paid a couple of grand for a kit!
