Update on D17 cam!
wait so you need the cam 350$, plus retainers and valves? 302$ plus shipping and install.
Then you need advanced timing, Do you also need a new ems?
Are we lookin at over 1,000$ for like 12-15hp
Not worth it IMO

cams are expensive, but u get good gains. yes u will need the cam, and the retainers and springs. IMO, a smarter thing to do is save 2 more thousand and build urself a turbo kit. my DOHC cams cost me 346 canadian for the 2 cams, and 256 or something like that for the springs/retainers. So it wouldnt suprise me if 320 is for the SET, becuase ur only using half the stuff for the SOHC.
No u dont need to advance timing, it is just a way to get more power from cams, and stock EMS should work.

yeah its nice til that bill comes every month. then it really sucks. My limit is already at 2500, and its prolly gonna be tough for me to get that increased so i can get the cams.
Re: Update on D17 cam!
Hello Civic Forums! First post woohoo!!
Sooo did anyone ever get this cam? I am wanting to keep my d17 NA and upgrade to a fully pimped vtec head
Obviously a cam is on the list of goodies that I plan to include...

First thing when you get to a forum, search. Second thing, check the date of the thread...
www.dezod.com sells crower cams I believe. So yeah, many people have.

Re: Update on D17 cam!
there are 4 different cams available from crower stage 1, stage 2 N/A, Stage 2 turbo, and Stage 3. the stage 3 is only good if you high comp pistons or running lots of boost. stage 1 is just a drop in hotter cam for the civic no engine management required or valve springs and retainers. stage 2 and 3 both require engine management and valve springs and retainers. Please check the date on the threads before posting
Oh the best place I have found to purchase the cam is from crower directly they are the easiest and cheapest to deal with.

Cool thanks, yeah most forums have a search button. And most forums have people who blow a gasket over old threads, too
But I don't want to start a flame war, just wanted to know a little more about the actual power increase...
