Custom Turbo, My First Steps.
Custom Turbo, My First Steps.
I have been busy on Ebay this week.
1 kinda nice looking Celica GT4 Chargecooler.
1 GT22V Garrett turbo from Merc 270CDI used but serviceable.
Not got my E-Manage yet but thats next and Big Motorcycle Rad to run with chargecooler.
I already have
All the 319 stainless tubing I need for 2 1/2" cat back and Exhaust Boxes.
I have built the Head Flange and have enough 1 1/2" tube and 90's for equal length exhaust manifold.
3" Plenum and 2" to 1 1/2" Bellmouths from Stainless Steel Cocktail Shaker Tops lol 1 1/2" 90's and Tube for Inlet Manifold.
2 Subaru WRX Cats, We have Emmission test in Scotland.
My application is not Drag but fast road with lots of tight corners and roundabouts. The GT22V should spool very fast as it uses the Garrett VNT.
I will be going for 7psi until I get another engine(D16V1 BTW) and drop the compression (9.4 just now).
I'm not sure about changing the injectors and doing return type fuel line. I am leaning towards 2 extra injectors in plenum each between 2 bellmouths. The E-Manage should hopefully cover control of these. I am also hoping this fuel mist in plenum will aid in intake cooling.
I know that SF suplied some Turbo Kits to people in coutries that have EP2's so I am probably not the first but there is very little info on turbo D16V1's.
Type R's really are everywhere over here so I could just trade in and get one of those but I want a turbo.
Any input on this setup will be gratefully received. I am gonna need some help in the coming months especially with the E-Manage, I expect.
BTW: Is there any point trying to route my chargecooler and AC Rad together or is it better to just stick the Motorcycle Rad in front of AC Rad. In Scotland AC is not used very much lol.
