What's the year model rule for swaps?
Hey, just need a quick answer here...What is the rule for swapping engines of different year models? Specifically, I've got an 04 civic, and I'm currently looking for a k series to swap in, but an 04 engine might be pricier than an 02, but I don't know if it's legal to swap anything earlier than an 04...Thanks, and sorry if this has already been answered before...
technically to be legal, it needs to be of the same year vehicle, but in TX it doesn't matter too much, and seeing as you are in Austin, the only thing you need to worry about is making sure you don't throw any CELs, since the new emissions inspection here for OBDII vehicles involves plugging in a reader and making sure it's running right.

The actual rule is the engine your getting must be of the same year OR OF A NEWER YEAR than the vehical you are placing it into. That means no B18C5's for you kids if you want it legal lol
