Rep Power: 260 /\/\Yes, because the exhaust flow is less direct. Instead of just passing through the header and down the exhaust in a straight through design. The exhaust flows around an exhaust turbine and (at times under max boost) through a tiny wastegate, the exhaust flow is less direct, thus quieter.

Rep Power: 260 I've worked out most of my fuel cut problems and have the ICU tuned to where i'm running pretty good now. (Just a little rich, but still better than lean) As soon as i get a chance i'll get some vids of me on it WOT. At WOT traction is tough though

Rep Power: 0 Soooooooounds good....I wish I could get a clip of my type s for you boys :]
And the car sounds good too...I agree on turbo noise>ehxuast noise...then again I do run an open dump, so when i'm on it it's all kinda noise goin on!
The valve does sound very similar to the Turbo XS Type H-34 and the RFL...not bad...very agressive

Rep Power: 260 On our project 240-> silvia conversion with a T304s, we routed the piping from the wastegate to exit on a aluminum port we fabbed up on the driverside fender. We're expecting flames!! haha

Rep Power: 0 Thats slight compressor surge...usually do to your BOV not working at maximum effeciency...like you're not at a high boost or your vacuum source is weak, or your valve is setup for to high of a PSI
Turkey sounds are not good...many Mazdaspeed Protege 5 owners are having similar problems when changing valves and the such...
I wouldn't worry to much about it at low boost, but if you really romp into it and boost a lil (like 5-8psi, low boost) and you still get surge...thats not good
Basically surge is the compressed air filling up your charge pipe, as your Throt Body is closed, and it's making your compressor spin backwards...hence making that noise come out your intake
