do you actually know where the governor is? i haven't quite found the room to find it, the straight at The Glen is long, but it aint that long
And the reason you can actually get to 140 on the speedo at the glen is the uphill esses leading to the straight are basically flat out, i mean i hit the straight doin 110

what does suck about the swap is how RSX owners still have more money than me...

Interesting thread...
I plan on going swap vs. turbo mainly because I have the slushbox automatic... I would rather swap in a k20a2 with a 6spd then just turbo my turd my right now. Haha
Plus opening up your hood and people seeing a k20 is just plain cool, lol, though an intercooler looks good too
, guess I gotta do both!

, guess I gotta do both! you know, this was originally so I could get opinions on swap or turbo, and while I appreciate the comments, its turned into a telephone conversation. Is there anyone who could share their setups, or give a rough idea of what I'm looking at for cost. I'm estimating 7000 including the koni yellows, which I'll need soon, plus a strong head gasket and possibly a little more.not to mention I'll have to do most of the install myself. The bottom line is i still need some more opinions on this. Advice is welcomed.

Clutch/flywheel: $500
Head bols/Gasket: $150
Boosted 7thgen= Priceless.
If you can do your own labor you will save alot of $$.
But good luck with the tranny. it is a biatch and a tight space to work in. You cant just drop or pull the tranny out to work. You have to some how hold it away from the block and do the work in a 2" space. Those who have done it know what I am talking about.
Turbo install is ok. Just a biatch when it comes to the oil pan. Other than that it is all bolt-on.
K20 swap is alot more $$ and work. Once you are ready to go swap it is not easy to go back to stock. With a turbo you just unbolt and trade the car in for a SRT-4. Alot of people are not talking about this factor. You can pull and sell a used turbo kit and your car is back to stock.

are there even any timeslips floating around of a 13 second turbo d17's, besides catalyst's? there really should be a timeslip thread, especially in the f/i & swap forum.

futurersxswap had a fast *** turbo'd vic, i know that. pretty sure it was in the 13's. maybe madwheel. but slips would be a plus
and good call about the removability (word?) of a turbo. if money troubles hit with a swap, you really don't have a big option to swap back.

ALot of people dont think about it. But that is the main reason I went turbo and not swap. In the end I am glad I did. It would have been hard to get back to stock to trade the car in. Unless you plan on keeping the car forever dont swap. Just boost it and when the time comes unbolt and go.
Hell boost now. When the next Si coupe comes out with a K20, sell the turbo kit trade your car in and then buy a K20 turbo kit. That way you will be faster than a swap now and then later have a K20 coupe and turbo.
