turbo automatic LX
i have a 2001 automatic LX
im considering turbo its not an issue of $$ its i dont wanna ruin my car..
the engines are strong as **** i know my friend has 220whp in his vic.. problem is im automatic and i dont wanna blow my tranny and i dont wana shell out the money for a jmo torque converter.etc
whats the best thing to do.. i wanna run like 5-6lbs boost on a SF kit.

depending on mileage, might consider upgrading the internals on your tranny, pretty sure I read a post in the FI forum. then again, if you have sometime to kill before you actually buy it, look into dezod's turbo situation. there is a huge thread about it. he's setting one up on an a/t ex, i've been watching it pretty closely because I'm in the same situation. don't really want to swap out the tranny and turbo, if i had to do that i'd probably end up just saving for the k20. good luck either way man.

yeah idk.. im not a speed demon, so im thinking maybe no turbo.. just keeping my baby slow and sick lookin... its not worth the money. cause if i ruin her its gonna cost alot more to fix her.. so i might as well just chill until i get my G35c in the future.lol

Honestly having an auto and wanting it quick on a 7thgen will never happen. Swap or convert to stick. Even consider a new car if you really want hp like 230hp or so.

FYI, those 19s are gonna kill you with turbo. they weigh a ton and will null out most of the benefits of turbo espeically when starts from a stop.

So what do you think Dezod is it worth it.. Also how long do you think the Auto Tranny will withstand the additional power.. Also what steps have you taken to ensure you dont blow you tranny ??

Precautions??? I changed tranny fluids to B&M Trick Shift for auto trannies.....also installed a B&M tranny cooler as well. Feels fine....no slips. Then again, I do not really beat on it a whole lot. I am running 8 PSI daily too. I am pushing about 147 WHP & 124 WTQ consistantly without tranny downshifts....I also have a fully functionally cat too. It's like having the pick up of a small V6 in a 4cyl car..........

Im still interested in your kit when you get it done, you already know that, any improvement is an improvement.Alone the psssh and spooling noise is worth it as you said.
Just telling people auto isnt going to be racer on boost it is a good improvement and you will be faster than alot cars around our class. Ford focus SVT. Nissan sentra spec V auto one. hell maybe the spec V manual?
Its not going to be a mustang gt hunter though or cars around that price range. still those cars are like what 20k+ stock?
dezod when I watched your videos I have a question after the auto shift it seemed to over rev? You know what im talking about? that sorta worries me. This was when you were going first to secound and into third real quick

Which vid in particular?? It is a style of driving that makes it almost react like a 5spd. Takes a little bit of work to make it like that. It's not just nailing the throttle.......

i dont drive like that on mine. I have a different technique. It almost seems like dezod is pounding it too quick. I can drive mine almost like a 5 speed, people i race think i'm shifting (from a roll obviously)

i think i know what youre saying.
whenever i want to redline every gear i start in D3 and i floor it so it stays/shifts to 1st. then when it shifts to second i put in in 2 since its already in 2nd gear it will stay there until you shift it back to D3 where it will shift to 3rd. D3 will keep it in 3rd gear until you move to D

Get a trany cooler. When you drag it put it in D1 and go. Hold it till you get to the desired RPM and then shift it to D2. And so on and so forth. Still might blow the trany. Valvebody mod. Trany cooler. You'd be smoking a 5-sp.
D1?

I tested when my auto ex shifted....it went to about 6.7K before shifting
