do you think the throttle body heater is something to take into account with a boosted civic? im not too sure if it actually heats the air enough to matter, but it seems like a heated throttle body would decrease the effectiveness of an intercooler, whose purpose is to cool the air. does it heat the air enough to warrant the by-pass mod?

nope the throttle body heater isnt enough to heat the air going into the intake, but with winter around the corner id hook it back up even though some people havent had n e prob with it freezing. but it would suck for it to freeze and honda obviously found the need for it to b there!!!
No man
It cools the throttle body at those temps. To us it may seem hot but when the turbo is charging the intake the temps are way higher. If you bypass it the intake air temp will be way higher. You'd probably end up warping the TB and get an air leak. It acts as a medium for heat transfer.

keep it hooked up.... it's just a small enough amount to prevent your tb plate from seizing up... and makes no diff on a hot day...
leave your car as functional as possible, that mod isn't necessary

Once again - it has nothing to do with preventing "vapor lock" or other mysterious gremlins from messing with the throttle body. The IACV (idle air control valve) controls the cars idle. The coolant lines that run to the IACV tell the ECU when the car has reached operating temperature, and actuate the IACV to close. If you take the cooling lines off, you may effect how the car idles. Search, read, learn - there's about 10 threads containing this - all from people who don't read....
